What was everyone's favorite albums of 2012? I've got a list posting soon of my favorite progressive albums from last year, but I'm sure I missed a ton of stuff. I know outside of Kamelot there weren't a ton of big name releases, so this could be pretty interesting.

Bought only two albulms from 2012:
Sonata Arctica - Stones Grow Her Name and
Unisonic - Unisonic... Unisonic album has only 3 songs I really like, rest of them are kind of average. I think SGHN is better, but it still is the second worst Sonata album for me, The Days of Grays being the worst with too many boring songs.
This year is going to be much better for sure.

I can only think in "Celebration Day" by Led Zeppelin, nothing beats this guys, Paul Mc Cartney dissapointed me a little, the same for Ringo both of their albums seemed a little bit ....boring.
Van Halen did an OK album, Kevin Moore returned to OSI with great stuff,
Rush Clockwork Angels, Slash solo albums, I have still to listen Richie Samboras new solo album and other stuff like Kiss.
something Interesting is that in past years Pop music was improving with the likes of Adele and Amy Winehouse, they put something interesting in the mix, this past year was a total bullshit in pop music and I bypass everything of 2012 (the exception being the soundtrack of Skyfall) lets hope 2013 brings something better.

Dark Roots of Earth by Testament was pretty much the only one to really leave an impression on me. Sabaton - Carolus Rex, minus the English-sung versions of the songs, was also great.
Honorable mentions:
Wintersun - Time I
Should've us just made the fans wait even longer and release the whole shebang in its entirery. Now it's just three really really awesome songs with intro and interlude.

Accept - Stalingrad
Not on-par with the near-perfect Blood of the Nations, but has some good stuff there too.

Agreed, but still - one of the best releases in 2012 for me

Looking at that list... I heard... 3 Inches of Blood, Dragonforce, Grave Digger, Iron Fire, LT Rhapsody, Lonewolf, Pathfinder, Sabaton, Sonata Arctica, Unisonic, Vendetta Book of Reflections, Lothloryen, and Winters Verge. Nowhere near a complete list, because if you've left off Kamelot, that's a problem.

Ah, yes, WINTERS VERGE. I'm going to listen to that new one now. Where's NEON VOMIT?

Unisonic - Unisonic
Arjen Anthony Lucassen - Lost in the New Real
RUSH - Clockwork Angels
Top three for me, I would've had a lot more if it was 2011 but sadly that's not the case. This year's lineup of albums seems great though.

My thoughts on the AAL album, I tried listening to it, but it was IMO the worst of the three "Space Prog" albums I heard this year. Docker's Guild (
http://blackwindmetal.com/dockers-guild ... ignorance/) was a pretty blatant Ayreon rip-off, but in a good way, but then the Devin Townsend Project album was the best.
Hopefully returning to the Ayreon isn't just another sign of Arjen running out of ideas.

Balflare - Downpour
Japanese band? Released this CD in 2012. Mostly non-stop power metal. Reminds me of old Sonata Arctica a bit. Check them out if you can't get enough of that old time (early 2000s) power metal.
