Theocracy

Just got back from a weekend road trip seeing this amazing American Power Metal band. I've never been particularly big into USPM, which is good, because their brand is pretty much exclusively Euro-sounding.

Their third album came out in 2011 and I'd put it up against pretty much any other power metal band's work out there today.
Here's a few of the tracks that have been uploaded, my favorite song, the title track "As the World Bleeds" isn't uploaded, but this stuff is really good too.

You'll find a few more talented songwriters than Matt Smith in the power metal genre, but not many, and you'd have to look pretty hard to find them.

Theocracy's "I Am" is basically the same song as Strato's "Alpha and Omega" Still has some good lyrics though.

Very relative comparison. I find Matt's vocal melodies to be much stronger on "I Am" than Timo's on "Alpha and Omega" though

I only meant lyrically! Still, in general, namechecking god/jesus/the cross is a surefire way to get me to skip track.

I find that metal fans that ignore a band for lyrical means end up missing a lot of the best material. Obviously the anti-Christian message cuts one off from a great number of awesome metal bands (Including Stratovarius at times), but the Christian Metal segment is growing a lot too, Christian Liljegren has always been good, but there's been more and more bands cropping up. Prejudices just don't help

Who's ignoring who? I've listened to Theocracy which is why I mentioned the similarity with a Strato track. They even played a show with InnerSiege (who I posted in this forum last week) on Friday. They are also a Christianish band, though I didn't know until I listened to their whole album.

It's fine to be a Christian. But most people (tm) don't want to hear about it.

Dear Stratofans,

It is said that one of the requirements to become the next pope will be to play metal every sunday to his followers. It will be one of the modernizations of the new church.

Greetings from Puma Punku.
