Too bad this topic got trashed out, Regina. It started out as probably the most potentially intelligent one on the board and I had hoped the discussion would develop.

Heh, so what you're saying is you would rather discuss one kind of fiction than another kind of fiction. ("Fiction" in this case in 666thediablo's opinion, that is).
Wouldn't it then make sense to create a second topic and let the two kinds of fiction be discussed simultaneously in perfect harmony?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Religion - What´s yours?
Cheers! That doesn't surprise me; the "energy-cannot-be-destroyed" thing is a basis for one of my beliefs... sort of! I mean, how else can we explain ghosts!Daemon9623 wrote:It's actually a scientific/spiritual blend that's pretty simple. Human beings have a soul, and since a soul has no mass it is therefore energy, due to the law of conservation of energy your soul cannot simply disappear, the energy must go somewhere so I believe that it just transfers itself into a new body. I approached a friend of mine with this idea and he had very much the same view (which kinda surprised us both) but he believes that the energy is dispersed amongst bodies so small parts of you are reincarnated into many people until eventually the pieces reform into your original being and you're born again.iron_thunder wrote:That's awesome! I don't know if I believe in reincarnation (though from some friends' experiences it's damned hard to deny)... but from a scientific point of view as opposed to a spiritual one is really cool. Could I ask you to explain it? If it's too personal, don't worry about it-- I'm just very curious... Thanks!Daemon9623 wrote:
Raised Roman Catholic, but I'm a spiritualist. I believe in reincarnation from an entirely scientific standpoint as well.
Hmmm... and as for me, I can't really say what my beliefs are or if I have any. It's so hard to say... maybe on my deathbead I'll log on and have a better understanding!
AS far as reincarnation goes, I'm not sure. The only thing that would really make me believe it is this friend of mine who seems so beyond her 20 years that she can only be thousands of years old. make sense? Well that, and her pastlife flashbacks which are so real and emotional to me too, so I have to believe them.

I can buy part one of that but part 2 - I am not so sure I'm down with that theory.Daemon9623 wrote:

Past Life Regression Hypnosis will make a believer out of you without doubt! But the experience is intense on all levels and this method is definitely not for everyone.iron_thunder wrote:far as reincarnation goes, I'm not sure. My mom wants me to be catolic...but i think this....:
There are people that believes in Jesus and they are fine...
There are people that believes in Budha, and they are fine too...
There are people that believes in nothing!!! And they are fine!!!
I think everyone have its own god, don't you think?
My god always will be different than your god...

That's a common trait in catholics - they seem to think that the whole world MUST adopt their dogma.

Re: Religion - What´s yours?
i am supposed to be catholic, but i have no troubles with any other religion, i think people have the power to be kind or not, it is all in our hands, not in religion at all, we always justify our success, atrocities or mistakes to a divine´s will, nevertheless we can make our lives go the way we want. A religion will not decide if we go wrong or not, that´s why i (IMO) can´t understand why men kill in "God´s name" whoever it´d be

I'm an Atheist, THANK GOD!
Give a bum a piece of bread, and he will feed himself for a couple of minutes;
Teach him to have faith, and he will starve to death praying for a piece of bread.
Q: What are the small bumps around a womans nipples for?
A: It's Braille for 'Suck here.'

Re: Religion - What´s yours?
I am Roman Catholic, but I don't believe the way as I used to. I believe more in Destiny, but still don't know, if there's God or not... and this is the question, to what I1ll never find the answer. So I don't really care, if there's any God or not. We are here, on the planet Earth, and we're supoosed to live in love. We must helo each other and earn other people's respect. Not everyone's, as it's impossible (and there are many jerks, that I don't even want to talk to), but we should have as many friends and pals, as many we can.
Peace, Love, Friendship, Martialarts, Aims of Achievements and Destiny. This is, what I believe in.

Re: Religion - What´s yours?
I do have my own religion... none of those "universal" religions was good enough for me. But I do respect them all, even though I don't agree with some statements. I'm cosest to Spiritualism combined with reincarnation, Wards, Nature and plain scientism.

Re: Religion - What´s yours?
As to the talk between Daemon and Iron Thunder about circulation of energy - here's my poor translation of a poem I once read...
A Lecture About Transforming
...so there was a frog, built up of milions of atoms
('cause of atoms everything does consist, from frogs to homes
And people. You consist of them and your aunt too),
But turning to frog, The frog eaten by a stork,
And digested her precisely, the bastard,
And a nice little froggy turned into, won't tell you what,
And it fell onto ground. Spring it was and sun
And wind brought a seed upon.... the frog
One day had passed
And one another
And from the seed crawled up a root and a steam or a stalk
And a flower bloomed
A bee sat on a flower, gathered mead,
Not aware, that the mead was a frog once
So tu sum up: part of a frog stayed in stork
A part in groung and a flower and mead,
Gathered by a bee
But before bee takes it to beehive,
She'll eat some of it, and part of that frog will be a bee
And rest that stayed in mead
Children will eat
And so the frog in beginning
Will be in every world's part
And every atom in different thing, different country!
but maybe one day
Tose atoms will meet
If propability leads
And after short brake they'll say
"tho! we once werein one frog!"
And hug each other tenderly
And then they'll think - are we back in a frog?
Well, who can know that... The creature bare and new,
Might be a a toad or Alois Frog, accountant
Who coud've known?
Oh dear... my friends, what do we consist of???

None.
Better off without one. So many crimes have been commited in the name of religion...
Think about it: "What kind of man kills because of ideology?
What kind of god justifies violence?".
Just imagine: "How would it be? A world without hate
Without heaven, without hell
No wars, no arms, no religion, no God
Just your own truth".

Atheism. No god, no life after death, there's a scientific reason for the world in my opinion, i believe we're here now, so make the best of it, and when we die, its over.
