Favorit band
I searched the forum for a question like this, but couldn't find it, so here goes:
What's your alltime favorit band and what is their best album?
My favorit is Ayreon. Arjen Anthony Lucassen rules in my opinion. His latest album The Human Equation is the best thing I've ever heard. And it's not like I'm excited with a new album, I listened to it probably already 50 or 60 times and still getting goosebumbs.
In fact was introduced to Stratovarius because of Ayreon. Timo Kotipelto did Out of the white hole on The flight of the migrator.
If you like progressive rock/metal, you have to check it out.

Re: Favorit band
Ayreon is incredible friend! I am especially crazy about The Human Equation as well. It's so powerful and moving; a one of a kind album!
My favorite band is, without a doubt, Rhapsody!
The follow-up bands would definitel be Stratovarius and Nightwish though!

Re: Favorit band
that´s the typical question which i find no answer...it´s IMPOSSIBLE to pick just one. That would be unfair to, at least, five bands.

Re: Favorit band
I must to say Stratovarius.
And the best album is Visions.
I like also Nightwish especially their new Once album.
And of course there's other good bands too like Sonata Arctica, Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc.
I must check out that Ayreon's new album.
I like a lot song called "My House On Mars", so maybe I like that album too.

Stratovarius, and my favorite album is Fourth Dimension.
Hey, Spiderman, seems like we have similar tastes!
Btw, Ben Parker said that phrase in your sig, right before he die.

Re: Favorit band
he doesnt say it before he dies, you never actually hear him say it. not in the original comic anyway, you never actually see Uncle Ben when he's been shot, you just learn of it, thats when peter goes after the criminal. Theres a picture right at the end of the comic that has Parker walking into the distance, and the caption underneath him says the words.

Re: Favorit band
Pretty off-topic, but: No, he does say it, but he doesn´t reffer to Peter, nor his Spider Powers...it was just a thing he used to say a lot when he was alive. That´s why we see in the comic books: "I have to remember uncle Ben and what he used to say: ..."
But that isn´t much of the end of the world about who started.

Re: Favorit band
yes he might have said it later on, but my point is that he never said it before he died, trust me I have Amazing fantasy number 15 and I've just read it to clear my memory! it appears in a little yellow box at the top of the square. It reads:
"And a lean silent figure slowly fades into the gathering darkness aware at last that in this world, with great power there must also come--great responsibility"

Re: Favorit band
One band... Tough one, I'd say Uriah heep.
Re: Favorit band
That is from The Universal Migrator Pt. 1: The Dream Sequencer. However, when you buy, buy both parts because it's absolutly essential to listen to both through together! Actually, I think they're recently been reissued together by Inside Out ...Sir. Decadence wrote: I like a lot song called "My House On Mars", so maybe I like that album too.

True indeed. But in the movie (correct me if I'm wrong) Ben says that in the car or was it in a daydream of Peter? Well what ever. It's something Peter Parker will have in his head for ever, so I'm not corrcting it

You're right with extra liner notes or something.Oakenson wrote:That is from The Universal Migrator Pt. 1: The Dream Sequencer. And it's true that you have to listen to both. Ectualy you have to listen to The Final experiment and Into the electric castle too, the story is connected in al the albums. Though it's no problem to listen to them seperate

Re: Favorit band

Re: Favorit band

Nightwish - Oceanborn
Sympony X - The Divine Wings Of Tragedy
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

yeah in the film he says it in the car, just before Peter goes to the library, I wasnt debating that. I just made a comment about the original comic book.Spiderman wrote:

Re: Favorit band
Tricky question for me.
My Favorite group is either Gamma Ray or King Diamond, but my favorite album of all time is Iron Maiden's "Somewhere in Time."
IMHO Gamma Ray's best is either "Land of the Free" or "Somewhere Out in Space." King D's best might be either "Abigail" or "House of God."

Re: Favorit band
That was mine for a long time, until I discovered Ayreon (because of Bruce I bought an Ayreon album). But we're one of few that likes that album the most of Maiden. It's just a perfect album with no bad song on it.Nebulae wrote: but my favorite album of all time is Iron Maiden's "Somewhere in Time."
btw I like Alexander the Great the most on that one.

Yes, it have grown by everytime I had listened to it.Spiderman wrote: Let me know what you think after a few more listens. You'll see that it will grow everytime you listen to it.
I can go now more inside to it and the story is amazing and the idea to put every singer to sing different part of "Me's" mind, like rage, fear, passion... it's so good idea, f*cking good. I have never listened something like that.
Yes, it's amazing album! But it's unity with huge U, I can't pick only one song from it, it's Unity.

Re: Favorit band
There are a few:
Van Halen
Queensrÿche (Operation: Mindcrime)
Steve Vai (Passion and Warfare)
Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon)
Aerosmith
Ayreon (The Electric Castle)
Stratovarius (Infinite)
Therion (Theli)
Rhapsody
Helloween
Dream Theater (Images and Words)
Europe
Yngwie Malmsteen
Led Zeppelin
Deep Purple
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Jimi Hendrix
Rory Gallagher
Whitesnake
Masterplan (Jorn sounds a lot like David Coverdale)
Opeth
Prokofiev
Beethoven
Weather Report
Django Reinhardt
John Williams
Charlie Parker
Frank Zappa
et cetera
Oh yes, I almost forgot: O-zone, of course...
I basically listen to anything that strikes a winning chord in the inner ear, but sometimes a player can grip you, like Malmsteen or Stevie Ray Vaughan, and you want to play just like them for a while. So, you develop this healthy obsession with their music until you appropriate all the licks and tricks and you move on to greener pastures.
Cheers,
Damien
