I noticed we have some Chistian members&I thought this agesold question would be good for discussion-at least briefly!

During my extremely brief stint as a born-again Church of Christ Christian in my late teens, the question of what exactly the UNPARDONABLE SIN is? Even ministers are divided on the answer&I came up with 2 conclusions.

1. ATHEISM--If a person does not believe to begin with, there is no hope to be saved because belief in God, Jesus&Holy Spirit is the first step in plan of Salvation. If a person refuses to believe, they have rejected it all, anyway&spit into the face of the Holy Trinity.

2. SUICIDE--a more simple answer. We are temples of the Holy Spirit&we are supposed to take care of the body which houses the soul. When a person takes their own life intentionally, it is the ultimate betrayal to the Spirit. And, there is no chance to ask forgiveness, because the person is DEAD! Hence, the person is lost forever&does not get a second chance.

This question of an "unpardonable sin" intrigues me, because according to True christianity, no mater how rotten&sorry&shallow&stupid&evil a person is, God will forgive all except that ONE unpardonable sin!
But, what is it?

BTW, although this topic is meant for Christians, anyone can give their 2 Cents!

now that is one big bullshit....there are a lot more evil and melicious deeds than atheism (which i consider as mark of sanity) and suicide...mass killing ( hello popes from medieval), torture (hello inquisition) and so on...

I dont agree with the atheism thing either... it´s not important what you believe or not, but how you act...
If i am a nice person who tries to help other, whatever, i dont think it can be considered as a "sin" just because i dont believe in the bible. And what about all the other religions?

There are so many people who arent christians and still live a "good" (whatever this may be) life, if this is considered a sin, i am right in not being christian

Nothing disgusts me more than a person who tries to play goodytwoshoes around certain people, then around others they commit every sin known to man&try to cover it up&keep secrets.(Which ALWAYS come out,anyway!)Then, when found out, these hypocrite blowhards will scream,"Mind your own business!":lol:.... apparently Not realizing in society the most thrilling thing to lots of people is seeing a goodytwoshoes caught wading in his own shit!
If ya gonna do it, do it&while not glorify in it, at least acknowledge that you do wild&crazy things.....and, love it!

Seriously, Jesus' most hated sin was hypocrisy& its mine, too......I'll forgive you if you break any of the 10 commandments but, if you appear to me to be such a goody person and proclaim you,for example, hate porno, don't commit adultry, take drugs, lie, etc, Then, later I catch you doing these things........woe be unto you! Of course, like I say, peole like this first railing is, "Mind your own business!" And, I say:"Stop straddling the fence&stop living two lives!" This goes for Non-Christians just a much as people who are.
And, lots of people hate the Christian philosophy&jesus&God just because they want to justify their sinful,shallow,selfish lifestyle&how they treat certain others.To cover their conscience, in other words.

I have made a choice not to live the Christian lifestyle--I live a hedonistic existence. But, at least I admit it! I'm not gonna rail against porno then sneak and do it.I'm not gonna say I just sleep with people I love&feel close to, then openly(or secretly) cheat on my spouse(if I had one) with an outsider. I'm not gonna jump on someones ass for cussing&then, do it myself. And, if I play the hypocrite&all my dirty hidden secrets come out, I'm not gonna hate the messenger.
People in my life know me for who&what I am&either Love or hate me for it. My personal life is noone's business--yet, I'm not ashamed of anything I do, no matter how "sinful" it is in the eyes of others.

So, even though I'm not an atheist, and I hope I never commit suicide....if there is a God, he/she has a big job in wiping my Blackboard clean if the time ever comes!
The Bible does mention unpardonable sin, and whatever it is, to be on safe side I hope I never do it!

My knowledge of Christianity is a bit rusty, but isn't the only requirement that you accept that Jesus Christ is your saviour and that he died for your sins? Then the unpardonable sin would be rejecting Jesus, i.e. not being a Christian.
Of course, it could then be argued that suicide is in fact rejecting Christ, because if you have accepted Jesus as your saviour, why didn't you wait around for him to "save you", in a manner of speaking...
Of course, neither is unpardonable sins in my book, I'm a firm believer in the Buddhist notion that we all are climbing the same mountain, only using different sides and paths. Ultimately, we'll all meet at the top, though.

Ok.. I will say one thing, and I don't care if it answers or not the question:

Every religion is based in DOES OR DON'TS.... (wharever you call that)
Christianity is based in what was DONE!....

oh!..and I said I will try to do and give my best but not to go to heaven... but because Jesus calls us to be examples of love, and compassion, and many things ..but do it for love, don't do it for ...for.. somethigng else... I AM SORRY, I DON'T KKOW ALL THE WORDS of this foreign language...

But, there are so many damn different religions with so many different requirements I now can understand why people give up on religion, or never attempt to follow it at all.

I gave up religion because of hypocrisy--I grew tired of seeing people pretending all the time. It takes a strong person to give up all sin&I don't have that type of moral strength.....Well, at least I admit it!;)

look what Romans 3:23 says: for ALL HAVE SINNED; all fall short of God's glorious standard. ..don't worry about the sins..

and then Romans 6:23 sais: for the wages of sin is death, BUT THE FREE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE TROUGH CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.

... God knows how weak we are when we don't want to get up and run ... but He loves us so much that we can just go and say I AM SORRY.... I don't want to do it again..even when we know that we will do it again ... I'm sorry, but we are not perfect... and Jesus gives the strength to try again.... just try to keep your heart close to Him... that's the thing....

well . my appreciation is quite seemed to cherry's opinion
but if I focus my mind in the bible I know there it says that about the H.S. blasphemy.....

that verse sometimes is in outside context cause is not explicit in the scriptures wich is that SIN..

I think we should be focus in are acts in life ...I don't really care wich kind of sin is that blasphemy ( maybe this kind of thougth is a little selfish, but it's not my intention) my acts and attitudes sometimes are too revolting and I have to get up my sight to heaven and take a look in a mirror and realize that I'm mistaken and ask for some forgiveness no matter what I do He's not judgeing me...He's mercyful.......If we confessed our sins, He is faithful and right to pardon our sins, and to clean us of all badness

Indeed... It's better to stay out of religion... So many bad things that happend and are happening right now in the name of religion...

OK...here's the deal about other denominations:
Many of these denominations are based on rules made by certain leaders that started it. I think that as long as they have Christ as the center of everything, then it's ok. Yeah, we can argue about whos right and whos wrong or what to do about this and crap, but I don't really pay attention to that. I just like to worship my Lord and Savior for what he is!

I jst have alot of anger inside me that I have to keep in check&I do manage to most of the time.

But, I am so perceptive that I see through people easily--I can spot a hypocrite 3000 miles away&I have been hurt badly by these types of no-goods. I do not forgive easily because I know most people hurt others on purpose(usually for NO reason). Then, they lie&say,"Nothing Personal" which is one of the oldest Bullshit/lies in the world, because you know if you had of been a different person, they would not have hurt/rejected/harmed you--so, yes, all hurt IS personal.

That is my cross I have to bear&we all have one.

Doesn't it rip you apart when you see someone treating others so kind&loving then they turn to you&bite your head off-- judging you&tearing you to shreds?And you have treated them as kind as these others have&you know you are as good as they are, yet this beloved person hates you for NO reason? And, they are NOT an angel themselves--far,far from it--so, its not a goodness issue.
No, I don't forgive heartache&mistreatment easily---and I fear thats how, if there is a God, He is that way also!!!!!
(That was what my analogy was about!!!) Sometimes it feels like God rejects us like a judgmental/holier-than-thou Hypocrite person&hates us for no reason&is blatantly partial toward people in this world...but, God can't pamper us always.......

BEG, my heart has been broken a few times but they were the worst nightmares of my life... (and now i'm living "the after" of a real stupid thing that happened to me )...

ok, but.. even when people do hurt it is not God's fault... God is Love. Love is His nature ... and He was rejected when Jesus came to the world... do you think that He in His Love wants to do the same thing to us? I don't think so ... that'r the reason He sent Jesus, to show what is love like.. God is NOT FAIR ...if so WE WOULD BE LIVING IN HELL RIGHT NOW HERE ON EARTH... and if you think this world is crazy and bad and an ternal war, well, think about what is hell like... and you know waht? the Bible sais Hell wasn't created for people..hell is for the devil and his demons..

now ... when Jesus came and died the veil that separated man from God's presence in the temple was broken (is that the word?) so we can go freely before Him... ..
(before Jesus died people was killed in that place if they weren't pure ...reaaaaaaaly pure...)


it seems like i'm saying to many things..but I just want to say that there is no reason to be afraid of God... When He opens a door nobody can close it.When He closes a door nobody can open it...

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. (even His love and forgiveness )

I can do all things through Christ which strentheneth me......

I'm glad I started this topic, so even us fallen Christians can express our feelings&thoughts!

I have bad days where bad thougts of anger, sadness, bitterness prevail but, the good days of happiness, fullfilment&peace outnumber the bad days, so I have strength to go on! One day I may return to the Light again&accept Jesus back into my heart, and until then I am happy knowing the Savior is there when I do need him!
I'm not ready to give up my "sinful" life yet, but someday maybe I will come to my senses and regain my Christian ideals.

Some close friends and I discussed it for some time, a few days ago, and came to a conclusion: whatever your belief may be, if you do no evil to anyone and yourself, there's nothing to worry about.
And there is no sin great enough that it cannot be forgiven -- that unforgivable sin stuff was created by the medieval catholic church as a means of mass control.

These are just my thoughts. I do not intend to offend anyone.
