I'm confused... Which building are you talking about? Do you mean the building where I took the panoramic view of the city?
And when you say you were there (tower), do you mean the CN Tower?
Ha, I'm lost!!! :D

Children are sweat sounds intriguingly amusing!

This is how the Province of Quebec (day) and the Nunavik Territory (night) look these days in Canada. Today is one of the most beautiful day this winter here in Montreal, a day to do some outdoors activities, like lying in the snow and sleep. But last week, we reached -35 Celsius. Was cold. You should have seen the iced letters getting out of my mouth. :D

These are some pics of the city where I will spend my next two years. I'm a little freaked out about the city's size because I've never lived in such a small place.

Some panoramic pics:

@ Equi: As you may have noticed, the pics are obviously not mine. :) I have been there, but these are from the internet.

The place is Halifax, which is located on the southeast coast of Canada.

Yeah, some of them don't look yours, but it's just that your pics are alwasys so clear and nice...

What type of camera are do you use?

Very pretty place, looks like a small Vancouver. Hope you have a good time over there.

Why should the small size freak you? Usually it's the other way.

@ Equi: Thanks for the compliment! I'm sure you knew the aerial shot (fourth pic) was not mine.
I use a very average camera. It has nothing special at all. It's a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S60. It has 4.1 mega pixels, which used to be more than ok some two years ago, but now, even cheap models come with 7.1 mega pixels. Still, it doesn't make a huge difference... My father bought a Sony with 3.1 mega pixels a long time ago and the quality is very good. The good thing about my camera is that, unlike old Sony models, which came with a standard Sony lens, mine came with a Carl Zeiss lens, which is a very famous and good quality lens.

@ stratoplayer: Thanks!
Halifax doesn't really look like Vancouver. There are no big mountains around Halifax, and the people as well as the style of the city are very different (I know, the pics can be deceiving :)). Halifax is the capital of the province of Nova Scotia... As you can tell by the name of the province, there were lots of Scots there, and unlike Vancouver, the province has a history of fishing towns, which you can see everywhere. I think Halifax is much more tied to the sea than Vancouver. People here don't call the three Canadian Atlantic provinces "the Maritimes" for nothing! :)

@ Carcass: It's all about perspective my friend. :) I have lived in a city of 13 million people until I was 17, and since then I have lived in a city of approx. 5 million people. To some extent, I felt the change from 13 to 5 million, but this is still big. I'm used to having lots of variety in terms of restaurants, cinemas, clothing stores, computer stores, shopping malls, music halls, cultural events, museums, etc... And I'm also used to travel for 45 minutes and still be in a densely populated place when I arrive at my destination within the city. As I'm sure you can understand, a dramatic change in size is not easy for someone who has always lived in big cities. The Halifax area (including surroundings and the neighbouring city of Dartmouth) has a population of 360,000. It'll take me some time to get used to, but no biggie. :)

Here's the comparison, with all three cities seen from the same distance:

Buenos Aires (13 million): http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=-34617952&x ... =0&m=a&v=1

Toronto (5 million): http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=43680412&x= ... =0&m=a&v=1

Halifax (360,000; Halifax is south of the water and Dartmouth is north): http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=44664990&x= ... =0&m=a&v=1

If you look around the cities and if you zoom in, the differences will become more visible.

Wow, Halifax is still two times bigger than the biggest town I've lived in , if a month in Barcelona doesn't count. I'd say there would be no problems at all for me to adapt living there. And I lived in a village with 60-70 people until I was 19! Don't worry, I'm sure living in a small town will turn out to be a nice experience.

I'd feel the same way. :P I've been living in cities with more than 5 m ppl and now like 9 milliion and last year I had to move to Rhode Island where there's only like 1 million...and...it was depressing.

And then I came back to New York.

But change is fun!...Sometimes.

I felt a sudden need to revive my favourite topic. :)

These are some panoramic views I created by combining separate pics with a little program called Autopano Pro. In some cases the quality is not great, but I took almost all pics before discovering Autopano Pro, which means that I had not originally taken them with the idea of combining them with any software. :)

Montreal on a VERY stormy day:

Peggy's Cove (another foggy, drizzly, stormy, etc. day):

Quebec City on a SUNNY DAY! :) :

http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/2848 ... ty8ax8.jpg

Downtown Toronto as seen from the University of Toronto's biggest library (the image is not that sharp because the pics were taken from a window, and the glass was a little dirty; you can also see the shape of some buildings reflected on the glass):
