As if we do not have enough problems in this country.

Soon, anyone with the money will be able to buy uzis,AK-47s,SKS rifles, and other guns that were once outlawed from American population.

It seems the OK Carral/ 'Ol West mentality will once again reign supreme! :(
Have an argument&settle it instead of a screaming match, or fist fight-just have a duel--that solves everything! :(

I'll write more later, but jst thinking about this makes me want to shit a brick! :pissed:
Now Bush will have an excuse to build more prisons&hire more police to place more Big Brother into our lives....Nazi mentality prevails.

This is totally stupid, heard about it yesterday. There is absolutely no use for such weapons in private households, fuck national security this has nothing to do with it.

Interesting that a wide range of the population is against the reintroduction and still it is in law... the NRA is much too influencial if you ask me...

Correct me if i am wrong, i just read an short article..

Oh, BEG, I am sorry to say this, but,

YOU AMERICANS ARE CRAZY.

You have voted this president. No more to say.
It is ridiculous to think, here in Europe, to go to a shop and ask to the clerk: how much is that **** gun? 400 euros?? good, give me one! without any other special request, only to have the money!

sorry, it´s hard to me to understand the american point of view about guns. I would prefer roses!

 I agree--some of us are!
Alot of these Redneck guys are so in love with guns that if they had to chose between saving their wife in a fire, or their gun collection, some would actually think twice! :eyes: :(
I told one such guy at work who was gloating over this decision--on his meagar salary he was talking about buying a damn Uzi! :uzi: And, I just did this: :eyes: and replied, "You gunlovers better be careful what you wish for!":eyes:

Think about this: Suppose EVERYBODY in USA got gunhungry! It would not be safe to go out of one's own home anymore for fear of getting shot by some psycho! And those days of having a good, clean argument would be over--you mess with the wrong person and POW!Literally, POW! :(

Another thing--think of those ghettos in Big cities where everyone is on hairtrigger insanity already! :shake: Not good--not good at all! A high price just to inflate one's macho ego by toting a big gun.........Well, like psychologists sometimes say, when a man does not have a Big Gun downstairs he has to have something else to create a big noise in his life! :D

Well, the maniacs weren't exactly having a lot of trouble getting a hold of advanced weaponry and equipment in the first place. I remember hearing of bank robberies where the theives had body armor and AKs. To be honest, I don't know how I feel about this law.

I think that to have a gun is a perfectly normal thing in our crazy world, I'd like to have one for example, but AK-47 or M-16 or Uzi?!?!?!? What the fuck for one might need an M-16 in his house?

Those silly kids from the neighbourhood again

There is no use, i see that there is constitutional right to own weapons in the USA, and i am willing to accept the general idea, but people should think to a certain degree if there is anything useful about certain weapons. I´m afraid those things wont do anything good...

Those people who might use weapons on humans (criminals.... ) will have use for them though, and thats not that great at all

This is really scaring... here in brazil selling guns is totally forbidden, but we all know that drug traffickers, specially in Rio de Janeiro, have their own ways to buy those weapons.
They even have army weapons and god only knows how they got it.

The problem is if everyone can buy a gun, surely the murder rates will rise, cause people may bring their guns with them wherever they go, and most of the times those people ended up being killed by the thieves with their own guns.

you´re right...i don´t know if it was the 5th emend. or something, but due to the historical value of this right, the americans aren´t ready to give it up yet...specially after this wave of terror, stimulied by George W.

Well, as far as I understood it, the law didn't ban assault weapons per se, it only banned weapons that "looked like assault weapons". Which is a bit odd, but one can assume the gun lobby (which has Washington by the balls) managed to distort the original intent of the weapons ban back then.

And as Jon Stewart put it (paraphrasing): "I already had the AKs 1 through 46, but now I can finally get the AK-47!"

Oh, and it's the second amendment:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Now, personally I would argue the right to bear arms was limited to the people of the "well regulated Militia", but that's just me...

People always convienently forget that it was a totally different world when Constitution was written than it is now!
But, people who are obsessive with what Constitution says, word for word(NRA, gunlovers, etc.)seem to not analyze that, or think about that.
Maybe we should just draw up another set of amendments to reflect the reality of today's Modern world! ;)

I suppose that to have a gun must be a great temptation, specially if you live in a conflictive area, now the agressivity levels are extremely high because of many reasons, but, even with that, I am dissapointed with the free tenency of guns. That´s not the way, but it´s only an opinion.
