MUGEN

Post by Neorave » Wed Sep 29, 2004 5:08 pm

With the vast amount of boredemness (if there is such a word) of college life, I've decided to post another random topic here (I like to be very random, maybe thats why my G-friend likes to call me B-random).

Anyway, there's this computer game I've been using for the past 5 years, called MUGEN. It's a game engine where you can customize your own fighting game. You can do this by putting in characters, stages, music, and other kind of crap. And, if you really want to be ambitious, you can create your own character and stage etc.

Recently, the creators of MUGEN, Elecbyte, went down for some unknown reasons. Some say that it was because of funds, but many people were giving them donations. They came back up for a while on Geoshities, but that went down too. :pissed:

When they were up, they made two versions: DOS and Linux. The DOS was pretty good with various updates. However, the Linux one was even better, giving more features and better support (I tried getting Linux for MUGEN, but being the fact I knew very little of how to use it, I was stumped). The last update was around May 14, 2001. Since then, there hasn't been much to do with MUGEN. Especially with the fact that the DOS version doesn't want to cooperate with Win. XP. :pissed5:

However, a couple of months ago, Some random person (i said it again) made a Windows version of MUGEN. At first, it was craptastic because of various bugs in the program. But when they came out with some patches, I was hooked back into MUGEN again. The only problem is with some characters there are some palette problems, and some command problems (I've only seen this so far with the character Evil Ken). Otherwise, I am happy again!!! :winknudge:

great one...i have three different MUGEN programs...one specialized for Dragon Ball, another for Saint Seiya, and the last one for the others (X-Men, Street Fighter, SShodown, etc....)
They are actually the most precious itens i have in my pc...
:P
I´ve already done a safety back-up disc of the three of them...
I don´t know how to create characters out of nothing thou...i can only improve and customize the ones i already have/get through net...

By the grace of God Almighty,
And the pressures of the marketplace
The human race have civilized itself...
...it´s a miracle.
