I've seen at least 4 total lunar eclipses already, and if you've seen one, you've seen them all.

As practioner of astronomy, I'm more interested in SOLAR eclispes, thoise are different each time you see it, yet where I live, one isn't due in about 120 years or more :(

People long, long ago used to be so superstitious of eclipses--they thought they wre harbingers of catastrophic events! I'm glad people aren't so ignorant anymore&realize eclipses are just rare, but normal natural events! :)

But, I can understand their fear&paranoia--after all, during a total Solar eclipse it becomes almost dark as night---I can imagine if you were not aware of what was happening, that would be a puzzling&frightening phenomenon, indeed! :D

In those days, any astronomical event was an omen of imminent doom. If they saw a comet racing through the night sky, everyone immediately assumed the sky was falling and that they were all gonna die.

As you said yourself, now we know that it's just one of many interesting things adorning our night sky, and that's what fascinates me so much! :)

Its in totality right now, here.
The most beautiful phase is when there is just a sliver of moon shortly before totality occurs! Looks spooky, too! :D

It ws really cool! And here it was kind of spooky as well 'cause we had low wisps of thin grey clouds that would track across the view occationally. Just a beautiful sight as wel shivered in the night.
