How many people here have heard of this waste of air? The sister of an American pop star, Jessica Simpson. She's been trying to get something of a career going, and let's just say it's not going so well.

First, the SNL incident. She does a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live, a popular comedy show, to do two performances. The first one goes off without a hitch, and the second one... well... Almost as soon as the song started, a recording of her singing the words to the first song started playing, and promptly stopped. Embarrassed, she talked to her guitarist for a second, did a stupid dance, and left. She had been caught lipsyncing. She wasn't singing on stage at all, but instead mouthing the words while a recording or her singing would play. But someone had turned on the wrong tape at the wrong time, and screwed the whole thing up.

Okay, so this is all over the news for a while, because Americans like to pretend that not every American pop star is a fraud. So Ashlee is now determined to prove that she can perform just fine without the aid of lipsyncing. Her next big performance was two days ago, at the Orange Bowl, which is the national championship for college-level American Football. She was the third and final act during the halftime show, and while she didn't fake it... maybe she should have.

Someone else said it better than I could. Her "singing" sounded like a mix of a political prisoner being tortured and a test of the emergency broadcast system. Whereas the first two acts were met with applause, Ashlee was met with boos. Lots of them. Imagine over 70,000 people booing you and screaming "You suck" at you at the same time. And these are American Football fans. They applaud when a player gets hurt. That shows you what kind of singing was going on here.

Her career, if she ever had one, is most likely over. It makes me sad, yet thankful at the same time. Thankful that I like European Metal, where you actually need something called talent. Anyways, I thought you guys would find this humorous. Watch the clip. It's really that bad.

I imagine she feels she needs to try to be as talented as her sister&probably their Dad(who is their manager)is kindling the fire.:
I kind of feel sorry for the girl--she is trying so hard to compete in a field she hasn't much skill for. I hope she wises up soon&starts to learn its OK to just be herself instead of trying to emulate Big Sis.
But, at least she had the guts to try... even if she might fall on her face!

Heh, I find no sympathy for the girl. If she can't sing, she can't sing. Tough luck.. but the sad truth is, that even in the US one needs a bit more than good looks to make a career in music. If you suck, you suck. End of story.

That's so funny It reminds me of Britney Spears' performance on last year's Rock in Rio here in Lisbon. I only saw the tape though.. So, so, so hilarious. I'll explain:

First, she was playing a song on the piano. Suddenly, she stands up, and the piano keeps playing.

Then, she was singing a song, and you see her whispering to one of the dancers, while still "singing"....

Nope. I heard, that she was so bad on the concert, that she gave ere, in Hungary, that many fans were disappointed. She didn't sing too much live, but it was horrible. Me and some of friends wanted to go to the concert to do a pogo (so, pushing others, like on a metal concert ), but we couldn't get tickets for free.

Yeah... for that idiot called Roberto Medina, the owner of the logo Rock in Rio and the producer of all the concerts (in Rio de Janeiro and in Lisbon), that can be rock...

The last rock in rio sucked because he called tons of bands that simply can't be rock!
I went to rock in rio III in 2001 and the only bands that worth the effort of standing a heat of 40° C were Sepultura and Iron Maiden. All the others were pure crap.

My friend had to take her little daughter in the day of britney show and she sad it sucked ALOT. I'm glad this kind of crap ain't that successful here in Brazil, at least we're free from the terrible presence of britney and others like her...

I need to move to Brazil sometime soon <_< too many Britney-wubbers here. I only went to the fourth day of the festival though, to see Metallica, Moonspell and Sepultura

Moonspell is a great portuguese band! I saw a part of their gig on tv, but some sucker decided the sound was too heavy and cut the show off...

Sepultura gigs happens really often here, and it's great! the same happens with Shaman gigs, but I'm not a huge fan of this band...

About moving to brazil, don't be so optimistic... we have crap much worse than that, as pagode, axé and other things that could even make a defunct puke!

I just copied this ashlee whatever's record for my sister an hour or so ago, and I fell into the lethal failure of daring to (even if only for a measure of seconds) listen into this waste of plastic, paper, ink, and studio time.
