TIME CAPSULE

Post by browneyedgirl » Sat Jan 22, 2005 10:26 am

The StratoForum is going to bury a HUGE Time Capsule that will be opened in 2075-----70 years from now. Name 5 things you would contribute.

my MegaDeth T-shirt
An Infinite Visions Videotape
Sugarless gum
A Recent Local Newspaper
A Cordless phone

Tshirt to show a popular band, the videotape because it will be obsolete by then, sugarless gum is an exampl of a relatively recent snack discovery, the newspaper is obvious, a cordless phone will show a popular tech thing!

Actually I thought of humdreds of things, but 5 would save space! :D

i made a time capsule once. i think we put gum in it, but being about six years old we took the gum out later and chewed it.

why do people always want to put gum in time capsules? this has boggled me for years.

i'll think of something relevant to post later. but to me it's like a "five things you'd take to the desert" i just have trouble making decisions...

I got the idea for this topic from a local news item I found very interesting.
50 years ago a group of people in a city in North Alabama decided to bury a trunk full of stuff unique to 1955---newspapers, 78rpm records, books, a few articles of clothing, magazines etc. anyway---a few days ago the children of these people dug that trunk up(It was a secret between these few people&never broken!)and opened it! Other than alittle water leakage into the vault, everything was intact---the papers readable&dry.

It was interesting---these old pieces of literature&remnants from the past!

1. A picture of myself

2. Dreamspace-album

3. This book, The Spearwielder's Tales: The Woods Out Back, made by R.A. Salvatore

4. A Cd-player

5. Hmm... A cookie. Yes, a gingerbread cookie. Straight from the year 2005.

she cloaks the world

A chill rises
from the soil
and contaminates the air
suddenly...
life has new meaning."

1. A piece of paper in which I'll write my view of the modern world; what's going on in the world, what's hot & what's not, who's who etc.

2. The daily newspaper (Helsingin Sanomat / The Helsinki Journal)

3. A box of photos from my everyday life

4. Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 (for laughs)

5. Episode, Visions, Destiny and Elements pt. 1 & 2 - all in one set :)

1) a universal history of the world in cd-rom, to show in the future the disasters we (mankind) have made in the past and present, but also the good things we have created.
2) Iron Maiden cds and a t-shirt of Number of the Beast. Best heavy metal band of all times, in all senses, no more to say.
3)Compilation of classic music: Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Brahms, Rodrigo. Sometimes the man could do things full of beaty and feeling.
4)a photograph of my son with a cd video of some scenes of my life, representing the medium class. Who cares about high class people?
5)Compilation of universal literature.
6)Some photographs of the different kinds of people of the world.

3. The diary I wrote when I was 15, so they'd have an idea of how a teenage and friends used to live.
4. All my rock magazines collection
5. Pics of me, my family, my friends and my cats.
