Who here listens to classical music?

Post by NeonVomit » Fri Mar 04, 2005 1:38 am

Since Strato are so classically-influenced, that must mean some people here like classical music!

Liszt is my favourite composer, his Hungarian Rhapsody no.2 is one of my favourite pieces of music ever! :) And don't let me get started about his Piano Concertos or Symphonic Poems! I also really like Debussy (his Piano Preludes are amazing, especially Des Pas Sur La Niege, my favourite symphonic work of his is Prelude a l'apres-midi d'une faune; beautiful, but wierd :D ) , Mozart (especially his Quartets and Requiem) and Haydn, and I adore Bach's organ works, and also his Mass In B Minor, totally epic! :D Schubert is great as well.

Who else is into classical music?

Oh and right now, listening to Rachmaninov, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini :D

I listen to classical music, Wagner totally rocks.
I haven't killed him yet sir,

Agree!!! Vivaldi was the very first one to play heavy metal!!
My favourite classic piece is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, the first part is beautiful and the third is just a heavy piano piece with great melodies and fast piano playing!!!
Verdi's Requiem is also one of my fav, it's just a epic symphonic masterpiece!!

I think you should go and buy some, most classical music cds are VERY, VERY cheap (composers dead, no copyright :)) I bought Bach's Toccatta and Fugue in D Minor and other organ works and Liszt's Dante Symphony on cd for £1.99 each!!! so also feel free to download.

Sometimes I listen to Bach, because of Stratovarius, and mostly because of Will the Sun Rise. Bach is my favourite.

If you like Bach also try Vivaldi and Buxtehude.

And get a hold of a cd of Bach's organ works, amazing stuff!

My favorite is the 2nd movement from Beethoven's 9th symphony. But i've just "discovered" Schubert, i think he and i are going to have a long love affair... 8)

Luckily, I have one of them. Toccata and Fugue "Dorian" * Trio Sonata No. 4

Well it's crazy, but this is the name of the album. Or maybe it's a compillation or what. Dunno. Spányi Miklós played the organs.

I don't think so, but only on the technicality that the classical period lasted from 1750 to 1820. Otherwise, totally.

Pity there's no proper name for classical music (since Classical music was as
HvyMtlClickWitch of the period 1750 - 1820)..

I guess Art Music covers it, but can be disputed.

So yes, we stick to classical music :D

And no, Sonata Arctica doesn't count! :D

I agree, it is a pity. Art Music, though...i have to disagree. In my experience, the term Art Music refers to the "concept albums" of classical music. You know, The Four Seasons, Peter & The Wolf, The Planets, The Erlking, stuff like that. So Art Music is like a subgenre of classical music..er, not classical music..more like orchestral..no, that's not it either..maybe instrumental acous...nah................

Soon we're going to need a poll on what the new "acceptable" name for classical music will be.

As I said, can be disputed, and I don't much like the term myself (refers to German Lieder as Art Song etc)

So we'll stick with classical music then :D

I really like the ninth symphony of Beethoven, he rules. I also like the four seasons of Vivaldi, and all the Wagner's and Bach's compositions. Strauss, Mahler, Tchaikovski and Mozart are good too.
