This topic is pathetic.
This poor man is suffering, between life and death between many years, and you consider it like a game. only a bet. And medias always talk about it "he is doing better"... "he is doing worse"... Poor man, let him rest in peace.

I think they should have a long time ago. It seems almost an insult to the faith to have kept him alive like they have, for such a devote man i see no reason why he would want to stay past his time especially in the manner he is.

Someone should do something about the cruelty of the Catholic Church for letting a human being waste away like this.

Pope for life is one thing if you're fit and able to move around, but the poor guy can't move, let alone speak. Why not let him die and stop patching him up, hoping he'll pull through? It's not like he's gonna jump up and run around the Vatican.

I hope he dies soon, so that his suffering will come to an end. No human being should undergo this sort of punishment, no matter what your role in this world is.

Well...but who´s forcing him to still be pope? I see no guns pointed at him, do you? And he doesn´t force himself too much by being a pope. It´s not like he has to run around and stuff...i mean, it´s a touch routine, but that doesn´t emply that he would be playing football if he had dropt out. You guys have to keep in mind that he´s old, and after he had been shot, his health have never the same. I think he´s the one that doesn´t want to give in, and it´s like a self-sacrifice...admirable.

Actually, the italian medias said that he has just passed away.
Anyway, I'm really sick and tired of all those things. "his health is doing better" "he is almost dead", "he had a heart operation last night". I really feel like we're all watching a stupid TV reality show.
People and medias have no dignity. Let this poor man die in peace.

I'm not catholic, and even though I have no problem with catholics, I can't say that the Pope was a great man... I have nothing against catholics in general, I just don't like the Pope in particular. Too conservative, and many people say he made great sacrifices in different trips around the world, but the truth is that he spent most of his life in the Vatican surrounded by wealth. Also, I really don't see the point in keeping him alive in such a bad shape... after all, according to his own belief, he's going to heaven, where all the suffering ends and paradise begins... so wouldn't it be better for him to stop this worldly suffering and enter paradise? I'm atheist and I don't believe in heaven and hell, but I'm trying to put myself in his shoes. If I would believe in heaven, I would rather stop suffering here and reach the eternal paradise.

I don't really care about his health, HE IS NOT GOD EVEN IF PPL ADORE HIM MORE THAN GOD HIMSELF and I hate that! the Italians and the whole world is just talking about the Pope, and nothing 'bout God, nothing! they go to the church and pray for the Pope, but I bet they don't thank about they're lives.

It'll be the same for me if he dies, I hope he does, and I hope the damn false messiah dies soon too, I am tired of those bullshits.

And the same for Terri Schiavo and Selena.

The fact is, the suffering of the pope is extremely good propaganda for the Church. And I doubt anyone will dare to directly attack the Catholic Church for this, they'll just say that it was the Pope's will to resist 'till the end.

Such is the world we live in :) The church haven't changed their ideals since 600 years ago, they just changed their methods.

Actually I think that the pope the vatican show us last weeks was a animatronic hahaha. Sorry, it was a bad joke.

well, like many of us there, I´m not catholic, but the last images of the pope agonizing at the window of the vatican were scaring. But I made myself one question... the pope is still alive because of the vatican´s interests, or only because the pope himself does not want to yet? What kind of interest can hacve the vatican to keep him alive? I´m sure that many "motherfuckers" (it´s my opinion) are waitin hungry to keep the place of the last pope..., ther can´ñt be more interests to keep him alive.

You really think they're not prepared for a thing like this? They've already settled who'll be his successor once he dies, they just keep it a secret until he is truly gone.

For a man that has been through so much in his life (TWO assassination attempts) he wants to die in a brave way, hence refusing to go to hospital. He's trying to set an example to many people all around the world about what bravery in pain means.

My family is very catholic and i even had a bishop under my relatives...
I for myself don´t believe in anything, but this is another thing.

What the pope did was his way to understand "serving".
He did it till the end and I think he deserves respect, even if I don´t agree with church and his oldfashioned believes.

It´s up to the new pope to make a lot of changes, it´s up to him if Equinox wishes come true or not.
If nothing changes the catholic church goes under. This is my opinion.
In austria there was rapid going back of people which go to church.
Even more rapid this year because of some scandals.
We´ll see...
