I'm sure that none of us listen only to power metal...
What other music do you listen to??

For example, I like epic metal very much, or I like classical music, too...
I hate discomusic and a lot of commercial latin songs and bands(for example Aventura)...

-Heavy/power metal bands like Helloween, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Rainbow etc etc...
-Folkish death (I know it's not "death", but who cares) metal like Finntroll, Ensiferum, Moonsorrow etc...
-Very few keyboard using power metal bands, like Stratovarius and Rhapsody

I mainly listen to heavy/prog too, sometimes I find the "heavy-double-bass" metal like HammerFall or some Rhapsody boring. I also listen to older rock (Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Led Zeppelin...) and some other band like Dead Can Dance who are unclassifiable, if you want to know whait it souns like, you have no other way than listening to it (and I recommend you to do so, it's an awesome band). I also begas listening to some jazz not so long ago by borrowing my mom's cds, and some things are great too (if you have the occasion to listen to The Real Quietstorm album by James Carter, yu surely won't be disapointed). I also (please don't throw tomatoes at me) listen to some rap. There ARE some french bands that make thinks i like quite much. I also listen to some punk stuff.

For what I dislike : I can't stand 99.99% of the US rap, it's just pointless and also techno music is really not my thing (except some tunes by Scooter, especially The Logical Song (Supertramp-cover) that I like very much, don't ask me why.

Ant that's all, about classical music, I listen to Vivaldi and Bach sometimes but I'm not very much into it.

I rarely listen to power/melodic metal at the moment, as most of it seems to be rather meaningless for me and i start feeling annoyed by some aspects of the music. And just on a sidenote, there came so many bands which all sounded the same over the last years that i really lost interest in listening.

I still listen to some classic metal like Sabbath or Maiden or Running Wild, as long as it doesnt get too cheesy...

Nowadays i´m mainly listening to Death/Black Metal bands, mainly european style, but also some US death... then we have the not so small folk metal section which seems to be quite interesting, i mainly bought cds of such bands in the last time...

Something that keeps me almost always interested is more progressive stuff like DT and Ayreon...

As for non metal music:
I like some 70s Hard and ProgRock, like Led Zeppelin, Yes and so on and i sometimes enjoy listening to blues, folk and classical music.. well, yes...

For my favourite bands atm i would say: Emperor, Opeth, Ayreon, Mithotyn, Vintersorg, Ensiferum, Finntroll and Falkenbach...

I like almost all kind of metal or rock if it's good. :D
It could be trash/speed metal, death metal, progressive metal/rock, hard rock, grindcore and, yes, almost everything - of course also power metal.
If music has beautiful melodies or great riffs then it's usually good... if it's metal/rock. :)

Well other than Stratovarius I very much like Sonata Arctica and Symphony X. Helloween is pretty OK too.

King Crimson (anyone?) is pretty cool and to my liking.
I also like old-school jazz like em 1920's Jazz, not the new smooth jazz stuff. I don't really get too progressive generally, with a few exceptions. I hate rap, pop, and punk. I dislike country too.

Classical music is great. I am very much into Bach and Hayden. I don't like piano stuff much, and don't like big symphony mahler stuff, but I really like bach.

So progressive + heavy metal + power metal + old school jazz + Bach/Classical = Fifth.

Quintessence is good, my fav. is Empiricism though, as Vintersorg adds something special and really fits their atmosphere...

Yet, everything with Simen is good either 8)

Hi!

I'm mostly into Power Metal now, but I can listen to any style of metal, depending on my mood.

I became a metalhead back in 1987, listening to glam and classic heavy metal and stayed like that for about 2 years until I found out Helloween! Between 1989 and 1993, I listened a lot of speed and thrash metal, and then (about 1995) I evolved into neoclassic, progressive and power metal, with bands such as Angra, Gamma Ray, Artension, Savatage, Malmsteen (I've been listening to him since 1988 though), Royal Hunt, and of course, Stratovarius! And then every other band that accomplish the "powerful and melodic with clean voice" requirements, into metal of course. Even if I tried, Death Metal never fit me (with some exceptionas as Carcass' Heartworks or early Therion's), I'm still not able to like the vocals, nor like Doom (except for some Anathema's songs) 'cause is too boring for me.

Besides metal, I can pleasly listen to hard rock, 80's rock bands like Journey, Boston, Bad Company, Queen, and so on. I also like folk music of any country as a cultural matter, and on Classical my favorite ones are Mozart, Vivaldi, Paganini and Bach. I respect Jazz a lot, but sadly it isn't the music for me, I can listen to it for 30 minutes and then I fall sleep, even if I accept its quality  .

I hate "new metal", pop, rap, hip/hop and latin-techno-reagge-rap. For other styles I simple don't care, don't love, don't hate.

Rock On!

I'm listening different musics like classical (bach, dvorak, debussy and so on...), lyric, traditional music from different cultures with traditional instruments (tzigane, indian, brasilian, peruvian..), celtic, rock...

My favorite stays heavy metal with different styles, like power, speed, heavy, hard-rock, prog...
The first bands i've heard were Whitesnake, Dio, Warlock, Malmsteen, Europe, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Helloween..It was in 1986..
I've also heard some glam at this period..

Some of my other revelations i've discovered were Angra and Stratovarius. :)
And there of my favorites bands with some others, like Sentenced, Shaaman,Edguy, Manigance, Noctis-Shade... :)

I don't like rap, jazz, reaggee, techno, hip-hop...It's not my cup of tea.

I've already heard neo metal but i don't like it neither...
I listen to few death and black metal bands sometimes...I like Sirenia, Children Of Bodom, Arch Enemy, Tristania...And a little bit Dimmu Borgir..

Metal rules! :P
