Well, since I'm on vacation until May 16 and I have nothing to do (damn loneliness :( ) I tried playing some MAME.

Do you guys know any good mame games? My favourites are:

X-men (the best mame game ever :D )
Knights of the Round
Final Fight
Tehkan World Cup (a classic :D )
Power Spikes
Vendetta
Captain Commando
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs
Double Dragon
The Punisher
Golden Axe (one of the best)
Golden Axe 2
Asterix
Sunset Riders
Cabal

MAME: Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.

It's a program you can download for free and it lets you play classic arcade games. Each game is called a "rom", so after downloading mame (a VERY small program) you have to add roms.

You can get mame (version 32) here: http://www.whiper.com/mame/

It may appear confusing at first, but it's really easy to use mame. To give you an example: 1) Download and install mame32, 2) Here you can find roms (games) by letter: http://www.rom-world.com/dl.php?name=MAME&letter=F From here, download Final Fight (World). The name of the file is ffight, so go to the "roms" directory in your mame folder, create a folder named "ffight" and extract the file there. Then you can run the game by executing mame32.exe and choosing Final Fight (World) from the list. Oh and in order for mame to know which roms you have installed, you have to go to the "File" menu and press "Audit all games".

Here's a mame guide: http://www.mame.net/mamefaq.html

And here's a screenshot of Final Fight; I'm sure many of you know it:

thanx for this link, I had full cd with MAME and games, but I lost it. My favourite one was Mr. Do, years ago I used to play it on my ATARI... where are those days...?

Yeah, some games might get boring after a while.... but I get a lot of memories from my childhood... I remember playing against my friends with Tehkan World Cup :)

Ah, the days of elementary school and arcades... :)

Ah, yes, the wonders of MAME. it gets mre interesting when you download some cracked version where it can play one single game that's not supported by MAME, but you found the ROM to the game, so you might as well play it. Example: I found Power Instinct Matrimelee, and it only worked with the frontend to MAME. It turned out that it screwed up the coding to MAME. Since then, I've kind of fleed the emulation scene.
