Google Earth

Has anyone here installed the program "Google Earth"? I love it! To begin with, I love examining maps and locating cities, islands, etc.
For those of you who don't know what Google Earth is, it's a program that has satellite images of the world. You basically navigate around the globe and you can search for capital cities and other places and see satellite images, in some cases very detailed. You can zoom in and out and the program tells you the "altitude" of the image (for example, it tells you that you are looking at the image from a distance of, let's say, 1 km.). The mountain graphics are very nice, they look kind of 3d, and you can see the elevation of the terrain.
I found my old department in Buenos Aires as well as many other places I used to go to. You can also see soccer stadiums in some detail, and if you live in North America, you can search for specific addresses. The program may sound boring, but I used it for aprox. 3 hours :D

I had installed it, removed it since I didn't really need it. But yeah, it's pretty amazing.

I have the program installed and I use it quite often. It's sad they have no pictures of Finland.

Did you find an accurate photo? I guess you didn't... :)

NASA's World Wind found Ivalo (and many smaller villages), but they had no pictures. In fact, the only place I could see with WW was Disney Land hotel or something.

Great software indeed. Very handy for the little stalker that I am.

Btw, they have a similar service which can be used with a browser at maps.google.com.

But it does make you wonder. If us regular folk have access to this technology, what does the military organisations have access to? *Looks nervously to the sky*

Also, fun fact: The US capitol is blurred out.

OMG, I almost recognize my house!
Haha, I see you bookmark your places like I do! And now that I've seen your map, I can confirm that I have found Ivalo :)

By the way, you will most likely be able to see detailed images of big cities, otherwise the images might be blurred, but also make sure that in the little bar you have below the image, "streaming" reaches 100%.

Widest avenue in the world in Buenos Aires (the image from that distance fools you; it really is pretty wide when you are there; you can't cross it at once, you have to cross to the middle and then wait there until the traffic lights turn green again). Oh and it is located close to the widest river in the world, the Río de la Plata. Some young people play races to see if they can cross the avenue at once before the light turns red  :

This is my general headquarters in Toronto (the spot that says "casa", obviously):

Thanks for the website :)

And you are right, I immediately started wondering... What are armies around the world up to?

It's a pretty good spying tool :) I actually found a base I served in for 3 years in the army :)

This should never die!

Well, I am using my bro's PC and it actually works here, and so, I have found my former apartment in Dominican Republic:
