Has anyone seen the new version of Nightwish's "Sleeping Sun" video? I have, and it sucks! What the hell were they thinking? The original version is my favourite Nightwish video, but this new version... They used to be one of the few bands that did not do anything medieval, but now you can see Tuomas, Marco, Emppu and Jukka dressed as knights fighting with swords in the ruins of what was once a castle or something. The video looks more like a Rhapsody ballad, which doesn't suit Nightwish at all. But what really makes me mad is the fact that the video has NOTHING to do with the lyrics!!! The original version is nice because the lyrics talk about nature and you can see the connection between the lyrics and the images shown in the video, but in the new version you are left thinking "what the freaking fuck?"
Oh and by the way, this is not just a new video with the old music... Tarja has re-recorded the vocals and now it sounds much worse. Check out the video's gallery here: http://www.nightwish.com/gallery/index.php?cat=17

I do like Nightwish's music very much, but they are too commercial... They spend more time releasing merchandise and singles than actual full-length albums.

I agree, it wasn't a good idea to make a new version of it. I like the music of Nightwish, Wishmaster isn't a really good album but I like the other albums.

New Sleeping Sun video looks pathetic.

I have never been huge fan of Nightwish. Actually I like only their Wishmaster-album. About the video, I didn't like it at all... I believe that money means too much for them

my god, I've seen the images and tought that I couldn't be cool, but as you say... no I don't wanna see it!

it might be a good video for a song like crownless... but sleeping sun??

I hate and love the old sleeping sun video, it's actually pretty funny, It seems like Tarja sleeps in a can of fish.

anyway, I have to check this new one... which seems really rhapsody type (and rhapsody videos SUCK!)

I agree.
The first video suited really well to the song. It also had something really particular about Finland.
The new version is just pathetic and ridiculous.
Sounds like the producer wanted to make a kind of Lord Of The Ring short movie. Perhaps they could do that for a song like "Wish I Had An Angel"... but Sleeping Sun ?

And one more thing : what was the need to made a new video ? Especially when you think that Sleeping Sun is actually a cover song!!! Oh I forgot... the biggest hits of Nightwish ARE cover songs (Sleeping Sun, Over The Hills, Walking In The Air, Symphony Of Destruction). Mmm.

IMO since Once they are totally nuts :nervous:
and "Sleeping Sun" is one of my favourite songs of them so
it´s really sad what they are doing to make more money

It is because of the money . Nightwish... they even can't play live, and if they can, why do they always use tapes??

I have never liked their style... They have some good songs but guitar playing in that band is boooooring... They never have good riffs, always that same style to play.

A cover? Didn´t know that, I remembered that was written by tuomas. Haven´t heard yet the new version or seen the video (Nightwish doesn´t interest me a lot), but at least I can say the original Sleeping Sun is a very beautiful ballad. That has been one of the few NW songs I´ve always liked.

The pics from the video/shootings really looks quite or more awful. And the lily on Emppu´s suit of armor: It reminds too much from Strato. :pissed2:

Indeed.
Few days ago I listened to Oceanborn and Wishmaster. They are both great albums. Nightwish really had something during that period. They used Tarja's voice in a smart way which made Nightwish really original. With Once, the songs are not really catchy. Thus, what's the use to have a great singer like Tarja in your band, if it's to make her sing like a pop singer! Nemo is for example a horrible and boring song just made to sell. That's a real shame that Nightwish lost what it was. My opinion.
