One thing you have to know is that 666 is the number of imperfection, incomplete. That's the more broad meaning of it. I'm pretty sure whoever translated the Greek writings long ago probably didn't clearly read the number 616, they probably read it as a 6 rather than a 1.

I knew it since some weeks ago. That's a bit annoying : Iron Maiden will be obliged to change their "666, the number of the Beast" into "616, the number of the Beast"...Numerologists and mathematicians suck a lot, lol!

That's intresting i never ehard that, i'll have to find out more about the guy who discouvered, i've always thought 666 would be more sense, because the Bible says 7 is the perfect number (in Biblical terms), and i was taught that 666 was meaning try again, try again, try again, referring to the Beast, that he will never be perfect. *shruggs*
