It does!!!
I absolutely love it. It sometimes remind me of Oceanborn or Wishmaster. Definitely their best album so far. which is a really pleasant surprise, considering how *notgood* album was Once (I actually hate it).

I'm glad that you like it too. I certainly think it's one of the heaviest albums that they have ever done. I'm looking forward to seeing them on the last stop in the North American tour next month in Atlanta. :)

Children of Bodom - Follow the reaper

I have listened it once, and I have to say it's awesome, really much better than SW or HB, it's just sooooooooo cool!

I had really low expectations for this album, and I am glad to say it blew me away, I really like how Annette`s voice contributes to the overall sound. And the riffs are awesome this time around.

This is their best album since Wishmaster, I love it more and more every time I listen to it.

And tomorrow I'll hopefully see them live :)

Besides, the symphonic orchestra is a great contribution as well.
Usually, I am not a fan of orchestra stuffs in metal music. Most of the time, they are meant to hide a lack of inspiration : for ex if you remove the orchestra stuffs in the Within Temptation album "The Silent Force", there is nothing, nada, niente ! But on this Nightwish album, the orchestra stuffs really fit to the music, they are complimentary to each other.
"The Poet And The Pendulum" is definitely the best epic song I have ever heard. You don't feel that the song is 14 minutes long, because it has so many different parts.
The vocal stuffs (both vocal lines and vocal performance) are really catchy. Good inspiration !

Also, the durate time of the album is almost 1h20 (which is the limit of the music you can put on one CD), they could have done like most of the metal bands tend to do nowadays, put between 40 to 45 minutes of music, 9 or 10 tracks (with only a couple of good ones) and that's it, easy money. Here, it's 1h20 of great and intense music :-)

This album came as a real surprise for many people. After Tarja was asked to leave the band, everyone would have expected the band to completely fail without her, since she was considered to be the main element in the band. However, the music of Nightwish became even stronger. I have not heard any negative feedback on the album so far. The album seems to beat every selling record. I'm quite glad for the band, the guys really deserved it.

Seems like I became the Nightwish-fan top#1... at least, it feels strange that I suddenly say good things about the band. it has not been the case for the last 5 or 6 years.
ok, next, Sonata Arctica... ? :D

That' because Tarja didn't contribute anything to the music, except singing and looking good on promo photos. Of course, she is a great singer, better than Anette IMO, but it looked like she was a negative element in the band in her last years with them - Once really sucked, there was not a single stand-out song in there, and Wish I Had An Angel is their worst song ever ...

Nightwish is Tuomas.

That's entirely true.
Once really sucked
I didn't dare to say it, but thanks. You made my day.
I still can't understand why so many people think (or used to think) that Once was a genius album.
I think "Wish I Had An Angel" was a good song (especially the chorus with Marco singing). The rest of the album was what you said. and big time!
Nemo is the worst song that Tuomas ever wrote.

Tarja is definitely one of the best classical singer around.
However, she didn't show any feeling or passion during her live performance, at least anymore. It was the time for Nightwish to have an other singer, and the time for Tarja to do what she has always wanted to do : be the only one in the spotlight, and start a solo carrier.

Helloween - Gambling With The Devil
Great title :D . The album itself is nothing exceptionally good, but also nothing exceptionally bad :P . I didn't fall in love with this band after hearing this album, but I also didn't turn my back on them... Half of their previous albums are better, and half of them are worse

Yes it was my first album, but I will not get any other albums (of any bands) this year anymore, already spent too much. And this score cost about 26€!
