Do you buy flowers for yourself?

In Russia it is not accepted. And what about your country?

i don't! but then... i don't receive them from people, either. i buy flowers to plant in the garden, but not really for me specifically...

but here, i dont think anybody cares who you're buying the flowers for as long as you're paying them ;)

@iron_thunder, I hear you! :)

I buy for the garden, too. And I have bought a few bouquets for myself, but cut flowers in USA are SO expensive--especially on a common woman's salary!
If I were a rich lady, however, I'd buy flowers like that very often, because they do brighten up a home! :)
Especially daisies and roses.

Well, the other things about having cut flowers about the house is that... over this summer i realized how funereal they look. People were very kind, but honestly I could have done without a million vases of cut flowers around the house. Still, it was something the cats enjoyed :s
I'd rather have potted plants in the house!

Just like Iron Thunder and Browneyedgirl, sometimes I buy flowers for the garden, but I also like to have flowers in the house to decorate it.
I love flowers!

can a male say something here?

I do like flowers in the yard and mama has a thing about daisies which grow alot around in the fields around us. but I like the looks of angel trumpets, and mums. And roses do smell good.
but, daisies do make me sneeze. Even though they are pretty.

I'm not really a flower person. Give me something I can EAT or a teddybear, which i can cuddle. Not something which may, or may not smell so great, that I have to change the water of... that's gonna die in a week anyways. I love teddy bears. They're the way to my heart! hahahaha

No, I think she's right, but it depends on where in Russia I think.

Agree with you. If I had to buy myself a bouquet, maybe a baloon one. But I´m not that much into flowers for a thousand reasons. I´d rather have them growing on my garden... :) But here you can buy flowers for yourself as long as you pay for them. It's sad though if you do so just to pretend you have an admirer or so.

Why?

I mean in Russia there is an opinion that if you bye flowers for yourself you have nobody to make it for you. So a lot of girls are ashamed...

But I Like to do it, and I want to now your opinion: is it indecently?

No no, what Morgana says is true. Ok, the word "accepted" might be not well chosen. let's see that it's not "normal" if you offer flowers to yourself. In the russian tradition, you must BE offered flowers (same thing with chocolate, if I'm not mistaken).
But unlike many other countries (like France), if you offer a rose to someone, it's not necessary a proof of "love". You can offer roses to friends that you like a lot, for ex.

  I always thought russian people were strange, but now I have the proof...

*joking*

But I must admit that I buy for myself not flower but chocolate...and I'm not ashamed.

What better person to buy flowers for than yourself? ;)

What I mean is--if you wait for a guy to buy you something&you are not Ms. Popularity, you may be waiting 'til doomsday. Like yourself enough to realize that you deserve these nice things, with or without a boyfriend! :)

What if we don't swing that way? =P
I guess USA does things differently--that is what works for us. Well, us who are more or less independent. If I want flowers, I buy them, chocolate, perfume, all that stuff. The old-fashioned way does not do any girl's self-esteen any favors at all.

well... there was a little something called the feminist movement that did away with pretty much everything old fashioned about girls... and i agree, if you want something go for it, fuck whoever disagrees!

Where do I go to fill out an application? :)

I don't buy flowers/chocolate for myself. But I have something of a similar ritual of self-indulgence; usually it involves CDs or something like that. It's not the same universally standard sign of romance, but it is my way of filling in that gap, i guess.
