Time for some serious topic--
Do metalheads really have to have long hair to be metalheads?

I don't believe it... You can hear classical music and have long hair...
It's the inside that counts!

Muhammed Suicimez of Necrophagist has really short hair. Ihshan and Galder are both bald.

Hair means nothing.

It really doesn't matter if someone has long hair or short hair. What counts is how many metal is in the heart...

Hell, no! That's like asking does a person have to be covered in leather&tattoos to be a biker!

It's the music a person likes that counts--hair&clothes do not have anything to do with that. I mean, if a person wants to do some of the stereotypical things that are "metal" like piercings, long-hair, etc. that's OK, but D-UH, it's not a reqirement. Many people have short hair&like Metal music.
That's like saying a person from a rural area who drives an old truck, wears her hair in pigtails, and talks in a marked Southern accent can only like country music  Stereotypes are narrowminded&for the birds. Cuckoo birds, I mean. ;)
A person is free to like the music they want, no matter what they look like! :)

Well, I don't care. 8) Of course it fits to it, but it's not necessary. But long hair is cool! I also had my hair long for some years and just cut it off because I wanted to look serious when I applied for my job.

Also Petrucci tried the long hair thing and he looks a lot better with short and spiky hair

Long hair is so much cooler....like Galder, form dimmu, he isn't very cool with a bald head......And Banging without hair is bad...

Long hair is a really good indication that someone might be a metalhead. Not that anyone should try to fit the stereotype or anything, but in that respect it's just wonderful to see a guy with long hair.

"Just if the person fits to long hair"

Anyway, I think long hair fitted (or is fit the past for fit?) Petrucci more, but it's only my opinion.

either extreme... a lot of greasy, long hair (or well kept, for the power metallers) or completely bald ;)

I do not think a bald guy would look very metal off stage without an instrument, but that is just me

he'd look more like a bodyguard or bouncer
