Signs to indicate if your child has gone astry from the lord

The text of a flyer, which was flying around in the below stated community:
If Your Child is a Gothic, Reform Through the Lord!
Listed below are some warning signs to indicate if your
child may have gone astray from the Lord.
Gothic (or goth) is a very obscure and often dangerous culture that young teenagers are prone to participating in. The gothic culture leads young, susceptible minds into an imagined world of evil, darkness, and violence. Please seek immediate attention through counselling, prayer, and parental guidance to rid your child of Satan's temptations if five or more of the following are applicable to your child:
-Frequently wears black clothing.
-Wears band and/or rock t-shirts.
-Wears excessive black eye makeup, lipstick or nailpolish.
-Wears any odd, silver jewelry or symbols. Some of these include:
reversed crosses, pentagrams, pentacles, ankhs or various other
Satanic worshipping symbols.
-Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos.
-Listens to gothic or any other anti-social genres of
music. (Marilyn Manson claims to be the anti-Christ, and publicly speaks
against the Lord. Please discard any such albums IMMEDIATELY.)
-Associates with other people that dress, act or speak
eccentrically.
-Shows a declining interest in wholesome activities, such
as: the Bible, prayer, church or sports.
-Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic,
the occult, witchcraft or anything else that involves Satan.
-Takes drugs.
-Drinks alcohol.
-Is suicidal and/or depressed.
-Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation. (This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God and His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health center.)
-Complains of boredom.
-Sleeps too excessively or too little.
-Is excessively awake during the night.
-Dislikes sunlight or any other form of light. (This pertains to
vampires promoting the idea that His light is of no use.)
-Demands an unusual amount of privacy.
-Spends large amounts of time alone.
-Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your chid may speak to evil sprits through meditation.)
-Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult.
-Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and
elders are but a few examples of this.
-Misbehaves at school.
-Misbehaves at home.
-Eats excessively or too little.
-Eats goth-related foods. Count Dracula cereal is an example of this.
-Drinks blood or expresses an interest in drinking blood.
(Vampires believe this is how to attain Satan. This act is very dangerous and should be stopped immediately.)
-Watches cable television or any other corrupted media
sources. (Ask your local church for proper programs that your child may watch.)
-Plays videos games that contains violence or role-playing nature.
-Uses the internet excessively and frequently makes time for the computer.
-Makes Satanic symbols and/or violently shakes head to music.
-Dances to music in a provocative or sexual manner.
-Expresses an interest in sex.
-Masturbates
-Is homosexual and/or bisexual.
-Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism.
-Wears pins, stickers or anything else that contains these various phrases: "I'm so gothic, I'm dead", "woe is me", "I'm a goth".
-Claims to be a goth.
If five or more of these apply to your child, please intervene immediately. The gothic culture is dangerous and Satan thrives within it. If any of these problems persist, enlist your child into your local mental health center.

What about 'picking ones nose in public'? Isn't that a bad sign?
Good grief--most of those things are typical teenage behavior&most does not happen all at once! I'm not referring to the really weird violent things listed, of course, but-shit--most teens into Metal love to wear black, have many tattoos or piercings, wears "odd" jewelry, etc. and lots of teens have temporary eatings disorders, sleep problems, and has an annoyance with being "bored", etc.It's part of growing up--I went through it, my son went through it&(perish the thought)my parents went through it, too.
Listening to Goth or Death metal or such is not going to make someone do violent or crazy things---if it does, the person was screwed up to begin with!

I almost always wear black clothes, band rock shirts, listen to gothic metal, sleep too excessively or too little,...am I the Enemy of God??

3. Claims JLT-era Deep Purple was the best
4. Claims JLT-era Rainbow was the best
5. Claims JLT-era Black Sabbath was the best, knowing full well there is no such era
6. Can't count to two, even if life depends on it
7. Is married to Britney Spears
8. Used to be married to Britney Spears, but was stupid enough to sign a prenup
9. Voluntarily lives in Canada
10. Is currently serving in the House of Representatives
11. Is currently serving in the House of Representatives, while being Canadian
12. Makes stupid lists of how to notice your child has gone astray from the lord
13. Bashes Canada for no particular reason at all
14. Tries to cleanse him- or herself from thetans, because overlord Xenu said so

Is it really a joke? You know, there are some parents who would take these very seriously and might do more harm than good to their children... Remember that topic in the Stratovarius talk...
It's one lenghty flyer though. Does it come in a book edition too?

Oh my god, if I wouldn't take that as a joke, I would say "wtf!? This is total sh**!". I don't think that listening to death/black/satanic and so on metal makes anyone a goth or satanworshipper

Joke or not, but I've met people who very much agree with most of that stuff
there ARE people who think stuff like that is total fucking satanism (and think that word is connected to worshipping satan)
can't help it, some people really are like that

Oh, I knew that stuff was a joke, but there are narrow-minded religious fanatics that really think all that. For instance, when I was in college I knew a girl whose parents were Southern Baptists
and they made her discard most of her rock music albums, and they were not pleased at all when she became engaged to a musician--even though he had a Christian Rock band.
So, you see-there ARE people in the world who do believe that silly stuff in that flyer!

2./3./4.: because these bands have words as "deep", "rain" & "black" - all negative words
6. no, he can count three times to six
7. ... because the intials are the same as Black Sabbath (she's evil, uuh)

- is a girl and wears at least one iron ring (= she identifies with Iron Maiden)

You have to kind of understand it, though from adult point of view. lots of us idolize these bands whether we admit it or not. They can do no wrong. If our neighbors or family did the same, we'd disown them, but when bands do these behaviors we accept it as cool. And I think this idolization scares lots of parents and adults. They would love this same respect that we give to bands and their music.
I can't count the times I have gotten lectures from various adults about this shit. And it is true that some religions are down on rock and metal music that much!

I posted a list like this some time ago, it's total crap (but don't listen to me I'm atheist anyway), some friends who are religous listen to metal and wear black, so what?

I remember as a very young teenager my mother's reaction to the Shawn&David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman, Robby Benson posters I hung on the wall--"It does not look right for a young lady to have pics of guys all over the wall." "But, mama" I replied,"They aren't naked, for god's sake!"
That shut her up for awhile, but when I put an Ironmaiden, and Megadeth posters up some years later, she almost shit a brick! Yet, she did not make me take them down, or stop me from listening to the music.

This is a lot of bulls**t. Just that. I fit in the 99%of these characteristics and I'm a good person (as long as I know). Even more, I'm better person than someones that claims to be good crhistian/ baptists etc.
Thanks god my parents dont think that. My dad is also in heavy metal, and he likes Strato, Therion and another bands a lot. Is a shame that there's still people with this medieval way of thinking. For god's sake, does the sex/music/clothes make someone evil???
about privacy: sometimes, parents feel afraid for their children, cause they sometimes want to know all what kids do. But, to try to keep you away from your own space...that's even worst. (I'm very independent)
