BTW, the first link lisited you will have to type it in yourself--it will give you pages of the first stratovarius homepage&from there see the forum--the othe links. The ezboard!

Some of those topics listed are those we all are still posting today!

Mmm, I don't remember the stratosite like that. Mmm, the older site was different. Well, there was a time when I didn't participate in the site or either in the forum.
I used to have a lot of pages from that site I'm talking about, but I lost all of them. This is the site I remember, the Stratovarius site back in 2000.

Well, as I said, that was the Stratovarius website in 2000. I saved all the lyrics, pics, bio's and a discography from that site, but I lost everything. It would be so damn great to have all that. I would have posted them all here for all of you.

Damn, that was one hell of a nostalgia attack. I really loved that place, it was my first internet forum and I've met there some of the greatest people I know ... Seeing their nicknames and wasn't being able to open the topics is bad ...

So, if any of the older Stratoforum members are lurking here or just accidentally got here - feel free to write something, it'll be great to know what's going on with all of you 5 years after this forum was created ...

@Shurik, I actually thought you&Nordic right off when I got access to those pages. I got the idea from an old issue of PC Magazine my son has. It had a list of 100 interesting links&it gave the link to that archive base. I did not know how long the Stratoboard existed before 2002, so I just typed in the mainpage address&got those links.

I was disappointed, too, that the topics were empty but, someday I may try to find those somewhere---they say nothing ever really dies on the 'Net, so maybe the content of those topics is somewhere! I mean, where we all have access to it.

Well, in 2000, besides the main site, there was also a chat. I guess that was the first stratochat. It was so damn great!

I did not have access to the great 'Net before 2002--I did not even know Strato had a site before then. So, all this is new to me&I will try to get that background info as soon as I can!

i also remember the email list...and jani liimatainen was a member, when he was pretty much unknown and there he told us about a band he had called Tricky Means...

Are you talking about the 1998 email list leaded by Gary Weber? I was on that list (I'm still are, but it's pretty dead nowadays), even Jens, TT and TK used to post there once in a while... I remember when we get the news about the new album "Destiny"

I also remember when they announced the Destiny Album, i was 16!!!

Indeed. I remember I was about the 30th member to register, and we got to be more than 1000 in the best time. It was the best source for news, back then when an official Strato website didn't exist, and not even think about a forum yet.
Another well known names there were Slautrchic, Julio Cesar, Veli-Pekka, Vladimir Semenov... and a lot more... I wonder where they all are now?

I mostly remember some of the Strato websites back to 1997.
One was called "Dreamspace", one was called "Seasons Of Change" and one called "Distant Skies". Too bad that those guys lost their interest in the band and didn't update their websites, coz they were really good! At that time, the Strato website was really far from what it is now.

Wow! That was a hell of a flashback:-) Where did you find this BEG?:-) Anyway it was nice to see that, we had nice discussions and lots of flame wars back then but I think we all learnt our lesson and hopefully something constructive came out of it.

Also, looking at the old webpage, I seem to remember an even earlier version, kinda linear where everything was in one huge front page. I don't know how best to describe it, maybe it wasn't the official page after all but that has to be back in '98 or something.

Actually I remember another version which prominently featured "Keeping the melody in Metal" at the bottom of the page. Don't know if it was before or after this one.

Anyways, I 'm still around from time to time, it kinda felt like posting again lately and hopefully I ll' do it more often.

The only trouble would be if all that info has been totally deleted from the databases. Oh, I'd love to read those old topics! Once, a couple years ago I ran across some 2001 topics&postings, but like an idiot I did not save them. If I am that lucky again, I will definitely save the info&links!

LaLaLaLa! Guess what I dug up? The 'ol Tolkki forum. Well, bits&pieces. I found one page where the individual posts are still intact, but the others, just the topic name. But, it still is a wonderful bit of nostalgia.

I am so tired, though, I do not feel like posting all those links tonight. I'll do it tomorrow, or tomorrow night.

I tried to locate info about a user, "Anonynmous" who sent me a very nice pic of someone. I did not know how to save it to my webtv harddrive, so the pic went down with the ship. Now I know how to save pics&I could kick myself in the ass for letting that pic sink. Now, I am trying to find it on the net--its there somewhere--I could use it now. Oh, well-- I'll keep trying to find it when I have spare time.

Not for the forum--for the User I spoke about. I'm trying to get that Pic back I deleted, but I don't think that is possible. I'll probably find it on the 'net someday.
Actually, I did not think the individual topics would work--like the StratoBoards, but I was glad that a couple did. That was months before I joined. I read the topic: What are the Older Members doing now? Or something like that.

yeah, oh man, I'm really becoming nostalgic when seeing this. And also the old page... I think I first visited the Strato-page somewhen in 98 or 99. Or maybe earlier. What a long time ago...
