I have been in many discussions as to whether this (amazing) band are melodic death or power metal

Although they use rough vocals - a "death metal growl", and sing prodominantly about death... the do not sound like any death metal band i've heard before

They have fast, powerful riffs, and a keyboard there too

However, the new album is more Melodic Death i reckon... it's up to you

CoB are certainly NOT black metal, however.

I consider them a power metal band. They're not fast, brutal or pounding enough to be considered death metal in my book. And far, far too melodic.

For those of you who are unsure of what death metal IS, I recommend you check out some Nile, Cannibal Corpse and Origin.

Yes, I would, because it has some unique characters that don't exist in power metal, besides the growling voice of Alexi Laiho. But it is not purely deathmetal, it should be something like TooMelodicDeathMetal to Be MelodicDeathMetal.
