Finland had a very strong run in the Olympics. They have a chance!

Better to vote after seeing a couple games first. Then we know how much power every team is having.

Well obviously. I rank the chances of Russia or Canada as higher than Finland's. Although Norway seem to be having a good run of form... and the USA is always a dangerous team.

@NeonVomit, do you really watch ice hockey? Who got you into it? It's not too famous in Cyprus. Or UK.

I was something of a skater in my early teens, and I also really enjoyed playing roller hockey. Also I was quite good at field hockey, and I follow international competitions and the Olympics quite closely.

Ice hockey is just another form of this cool sport :D No, there's not much ice in Cyprus so not many people play it...

My opinion is the next: Winner is some of these four countries: Canada, Finland, Sweden or Chech.
It's very difficult to say winner because I don't know all of the players who is going to play in those teams.

I noticed this anti-Sweden sentiment when I was in Finland... my friend on the hungover drive back from Tampere was ranting about 'Swedish Imperialism' (while driving his Saab) and it just struck me as odd... Swedish imperialism? wtf? Does that have anything to do with all the signs being in Finnish and Swedish? (which was quite helpful to me really, I could understand the Swedish a lot better than the Finnish!)

"Why is 'Helsinki' in Swedish 'Helsingfors'?"

"Because Sweden sucks!"

:?:

It's Helsingfors cause Swedes got to name it, they founded it! :)

Usually this anti-Swedish thing is just brotherly joking. Unfortunately some take it seriously, coming from a mixed home, I find that a bit ridiculous.

The roots are in the common history. Until 1809 Finland was part of Sweden, consequently the elite was Swedish too. Still today the Swedish speaking minority is richer, at least in the south. In addition, Swedish is still compulsory in schools. In the beginning of the last century there was this thing called The Language Strife, or something...

The signs are in Swedish too cause it's an official language here. The Swedish-speaking Finns represent about 5% of the population.

Well, Switzerland lost some pre-games, but don't forget, we won against Canada last year (I know it's not a guarantee for the future, but a huge success :D )

Greetings to everything, I from Russia Moscow. I go almost on all games and I can tell that very strong a command of Sweden, Finland, Russia. They will leave in the ending I think, if only Russia will leave the group. It is much less than admirers of hockey than in that to year in Latvia. But we try to support commands

The first match I watched.

The first two periods were appalling. Way too many penalties. The last one was good, though. Finland put up a real fight.

Fitta!

Sweden did it again!!! Finland had a lot of opportunities, but the goal keeper simply played too good today. Excellent job from him, I have to say.

So what do we have... Electrolux, Philips, Miele... And Lehtonen. Pick up the imuri of your choice!

Seriously, nice match, the goal was an unfortunate incident, a reflex save to a shot beyond his reach. Both teams played very well!

He made a few great saves, true, but I'd rather say our attacking players did a piss-poor job at aiming. As usual.

And I don't understand people blaming Lehtonen. In my opinion, if you're a goalie and allow one goal against a team like Sweden you can consider it a good game.
