Tony Blair takes a Hike.......

Post by browneyedgirl » Thu May 10, 2007 3:09 pm

Blair is resigning as PM of Britain.
What does this mean for the World, or UK?
What do you think?
He leaves office June 27.

I don't think he was that bad. Every UK prime minister is bound to US. He surely was better than Thatcher. I don't grieve or feel happy about him taking a Hike. It simply is time for him to step down.

So my vote is "Who cares"... but not because I don't care.

I chose the 'who cares' option, but I do live here!

He has reached his time to step down and make way for the next PM. I think that the 8-year limitation on US presidents would be good for UK PM's as well.

The 'mindless follow-whatever-the-US-does' attitude was not popular over here however. People want to see a more independant Britain.

I think he hasn't done a bad job. As Carcass already wrote the PM is bound to US. Why not decide for himself and say no to Iray e.g?

Anyway, he was not bad but I don't have to say too much because I don't live in England.

I choose the "who cares...." but only because I don't live there

I don't think he has done a bad job, either, but getting involved in the Iraq War I guess damaged his reputation a mite. He might've realized he compromised his own beliefs&people in order to stay on better terms with USA, and got tired of that. ??? Anyway, maybe he is doing the right thing for all concerned, especially himself.

Yes, that 2-term limit for Prez in USA was created, I think ??? to prevent possible dictatorship.
Franklin Roosevelt was elected 3 times to office because he was that well liked by the people&elected fair and square. That probably scared a section of the population. ;) :D

But what is it in case of russia? It is not a secret the parliament will change the Constitution for a possible 3rd period of Putin. (I don't talk about dictatorship here, but a it is neither a clean democracy).

I'm surprised Putin hasn't declared himself Czar yet.

That´s his campaign angle for the coming elections. :P

I didn`t personally like Blair's style, but he wasn't by any means BAD, just too conservative and too dependant on the US.
