Formula One: Poll

Post by Damien Thorn » Tue Jun 19, 2007 1:44 pm

Let's revive an old topic to talk about all things fast and dangerous...

McLaren seem to be on top this year, and this Lewis Hamilton is straight out of his diapers onto the F1 platforms. (Vamos, Alonso!) Are Kimi and Ferrari going to make a comeback still? I don't really get it; he should be able to win this year's championship with both hands tied behind his back, but we haven't seen much of him yet...

So, I guess I should rename this topic: Is Kimi going to win this year's driver's championship after all?

Cheers,

Damien

I agree with you fully. It is going to be unlikely the more the season goes, but the hoping spark is in my head of course.

Seems McLaren will take it. And the impossible is looking ever more likely, a driver in his first ever season taking the championship...

Mmm, not very uplifting, those poll results so far...

I'm gonna see Aerosmith, Steve Vai, Thin Lizzy, The Scorpions and Europe in concert this Saturday (rock!), so I'm not going to watch the qualifications for the French GP. Let's hope Kimi and Felipe can achieve a better result in qualifying this time, though, and let's also hope the Dutch Spyker Ferraris won't come in last again. I wouldn't be surprised if people start referring to those orange cars as "orange flags".

You know what the orange flag stands for, right?

Mmm, what's so unlikely about that? The way I see it, my grandma could win the title in this year's McLaren; the car is just that excellent. Also, little Lewis Hamilton is the team manager's personal protegee...

Have you all seen what Dutch driver Robert Doornbos is doing in the US Champcar series? Now there's a real achievement. I say they should ditch old Coulthard from the Red Bull team - and F1 altogether - and invite Doornbos back into the Red Bull F1 team, or BMW, Toyota (bye, bye Ralph) or Renault will take him for next season.

Cheers,

Kimi Nr. 1 again...

Also, now we know why McLaren were doing so fantastically well during the last couple of races:

http://www.straitstimes.com/Free/Story/ ... 35958.html

This is all totally ridiculous... sending your wife off to a copyshop to make some photocopies of classified Ferrari documents. What a sad tosspot that defector Mike Coughlan is. According to me, this goes against everything that formula one stands for, and the proposed penalty of taking away all McLaren's points in the constructor's championship is a good start...

Still, I don't think Ferrari will need that kind of help to win both championships this year. Vamos!

If this does turn out to be true, it will be a true disgrace to the sport, but something to laugh about.

However I don't think Hamilton's talent can be denied.

So what's it going to be like this weekend? I don't see any forecasts for rain... let's hope it goes well!

For the record, I'm not 'with' anyone. I haven't been since Montoya dropped out. I just enjoy watching a good race :)

Qualifying is especially important on this circuit, much like the Monte Carlo GP. So it's gonna be very tense today! Because tomorrow it's gonna be all about team strategy and less about pure driving skill, as overtaking is very difficult.

I'm excited, as always!

Howdy,

Now, I have to be honest, I did not watch last Sunday's race because I was in London, but what is that nonsense about not granting McLaren the constructor's championship points because Alonso held up Hamilton in qualifying? It makes no sense at all to me. Even though most of you would know I'm pretty much always backing the Ferraris, that does not mean I can ignore injustice when I see it happen. The fact that Alonso was put back five places on the starting grid sufficed. I don't understand the FIA. They ignore that spy scandal entirely, although that should obviously have cost McLaren all constructor's championship points earned until the scandal became public, but they choose to withold last Sunday's points because the team mates were giving each other hell on the track. Isn't it Ron Dennis' job to step in when that happens? Not the FIA's, that's for sure...

Enter the bizarro world...

Ok, so it comes down to this.

Who will take it?

With three possible winners, it's going to be one hell of a race tomorrow. My pulse rises just thinking about it

Well...well...

I'm very sorry for Fernando but I'm very happy for Kimi !

But overall.....I'M VERY HAPPY FOR McLAREN...it's what they deserve, they have bet for the wrong pilot and now they are paying it with a great ridiculous ...they could win but they made a mistake and lost the drivers championship and teams championship...very well Ron Dennis...

Good for Kimi!

Mclaren is ridiculous, this is what happens when you have a champion in the team and you don't want to see it.

A thrilling season finale overall. Kimi is one of my favourite drivers and this title has been long in coming for him.

However, Hamilton has had the most incredible first season in F1 history, and when he gets some more experience, I think he's going to be one of the major forces in F1.

Mclaren have always pursued a policy of treating their drivers equally, and while this is a very fair policy on a team level, in terms of championship it makes them slightly less competitive and I think we saw the results of it yesterday - that little difference was all Kimi needed.

So congratulations to Kimi and Ferrari!

Now we have to wait until next season - no F1 for months!! aaaaargh!!!
