You must for now be logged in to even read posts. This is not a bug. New registrations are suspended. If you can read this, you're in!

Hm, by suspending new registrations it would reduce a lot mess caused by worried fans, and prevents traffic of too big amount of guest readers which could lead the server down I guess.
But on the other hand it gives a feeling the countdown of the forum has started...

Sentenced broke up&their forum is still open!
Yeah, I know it costs money. Maybe we could pass the hat.......
Seriously, hope this forum can stay afloat a couple more months anyway.

My thoughts exactly...

There is no "countdown" going on.. and don't worry about the cost, it's some sort of freebie situation with saunalahti.

All files are still here and I took a fresh snapshot of the database a few hours ago. So fwiw the forum is "safe".

It seems saunalahti's database server melted down due to traffic. I temporarily redirected everything that could possibly be tied into the database to a static page, except this place.

Oops, it seems I spoke too soon! Even just forum traffic seems to overload the database server sometimes as well. :) So here I am typing to myself. :)

cheers

So Jens, question, what was with Jorg saying there was no split? If the band is truly split up, then you should have no restrictions on to definitively saying if Jorg is just full of it and there really was a split, right?

"Consists of two separate words that both start with R"
Oh damn, so it actually stands for "Rickrolled"! Who would have guessed?

Got you another one. Name the best prankster ever.
I'll even give you a clue: "Consists of two separate words that both start with J"

Made my morning, man! Skål.

Forum seems to be fixed, at least there are more than 15 people logged in.

Plenty fucking outages!!! It's almost impossible to log in here. Long story, there is a lot more traffic and some fundamental quota changed the last year or so. (This is an issue with the hosting company, in that max_connections for mysql is now 100 per hour. I suspect they upgraded mysql and that's why.)

I may think of transplanting the forum data to another server in a day or two (or ten). I just wanted to make sure the new place would be stable enough so it wouldn't be "out of the fire into the frying pan". Well, it's stable...r. Load averages and response times on that machine are going down but I'm still not 100% convinced it's "fit for production", they have had severe problems for a month. But then on the other hand uptime here is pretty pathetic too, maybe it wouldn't matter much. Problems there (dreamhost.com) would manifest as long response times, rather than the complete denial of access as is the case here. Maybe that's better. Even if you have to wait for 30 secods for the page to render you can still get in.

Bleh.

There is the possibility to upload pictures here now. Use it responsible please.

NOTE! this so far only works in the "plain" board style (or layout of skin or whatever you want to call it)

See? Works beautifully.

Outstanding, man, outstanding! Get you a case of beer (or, if you prefer some "Whiskey in the Jar"- of Moonshine) for that one. Three cheers for Jens "Unix" Johansson! :)
