Hi! Does someone know bands, which plays music like Strato's Episode/Visions/Destiny-albums? It's doesn't matter, is vocalist male or female. It would be great to hear example Visions-style music.

I refuse to call them that on the principle of cornyness!

Wat? None of us mentioned Edguy? Shame on us.
Thinking about it, Edguy might even be the closest relative.

Not enough keyboards or double bass songs to count as an Episode/Visions kinda band...

I think Edguy is a lot similar too. A lot of strato influence in Edguy. they don't use keyboard, that's true...

Seriously though people, check out Olympos Mons! The best new power metal band Finland has produced in a while! Great singing from Ian E Highhill, sweet lyrical themes and quality guitar riffs!

Well, I'd recommend Children of Bodoms albums, Hatebreeder and Follow the reaper. The singing is Death/Black style of singing, but musically it's very much Neo-classical power/speed metal with a few blastbeats.

Then there's Warmen(?). The music is very much like Stratovarius, but maybe more Progressive, but no worries, there is fast double bass drumming. Most songs don't have singing, but Kotipelto and Thunderstone's singer(I don't remember the singers name  ) have sung in some of their songs.

Sonata Arctica is very Stratovarius-like band. I recomend albums Ecliptica and silence.

I second Thunderstone and early Edguy, probably the closest you can get.

Also, the following bands sound like Stratovarius occasionally:
  • - early Sonata Arctica (Ecliptica through Winterheart's Guild)
    - early Nightwish (Angels Fall First, Oceanborn)
    - Kotipelto (duh)
    - Warmen
    - Highland Glory (corny)
    - Tolkki (Classical Themes And Variations only)
    - Freedom Call (corny)
    - Shaaman (Ritual and Reasons)
    - André Matos
    - Angra (Rebirth and Temple Of Shadows)
I'm looking for band recommendations, anyone? I don't mind cheesiness, but I can't really listen to growling (anything "noisier" than late Sentenced).

as a matter of fact, Sonata Arctica nowadays is distant from Stratovarius when it comes to the sound... Their two last albums (Reckoning Night and Unia) are more progressive and Unia sounds deeper and the saddest (if i can say this though) amongst all their albums!

I'm looking for a band, which lyrics aren't so typical and corny power metal lyrics like about slaying dragons, fantasy world fights or something like that. Lyrics like Stratovarius/Revolution Renaissance would be nice. But I still accept suggestions about those typical and corny lyrics bands, but if you have suggestions please tell about those band's lyrics!
early Edguy, probably the closest you can get.

Which Edguy albums are most closest to Stratovarius?

If you can find Night Cloud's - Defeated By The Innocents, check it out! Bit more proggy than Strato but lyrics might be what you are looking for.

Perhaps Altaria too, though not so power-y metal.

Also have you tried a last.fm account? With this great program I have found out about hundreds of new bands that I love and probably never would have known about by going to my local music shops or whatever else.

Check it out...
