We bought a new car

Beetles are cute&are GREAT on gas. But, please drive carefully, they are rolling death traps. I hope you have good insurance!

My Ex&I had a VW Van when we first married&we'd go camping, and sleep in the back. It had its good points, but thank God we never had any problems with it during the two years we kept it because the nearest VW dealer is over 200 miles away! With our long hair&worn-out blue jeans&sandals we looked like Hippies in that thing, and the color did not help, either. Magenta&White. I bet we got stopped and searched by the State Troopers a dozen times in that thing(thought we were druggies, I guess), and we had several close calls accidently-wise, too. Once we got going downhill we couldn't hardly stop--like a roller coaster.

@htcdude, you ean to tell me VW STILL makes a Beetle like that? No foolin'? Its a new one you got?

Nice car, not the most efficient thing you can get especially with today's fuel prices but still cool!

@BEG - I mean it's new as in new to us It's actually a 1972 model. Although i think the actual last 'original' style Beetle was made in 2003

Yeah, I was thinking they did quit making them. Your car is an antique, then. It should be worth alot of money someday, if not now. So, take really good care of it! Our van was a '70, I think. We just had so many close calls we were afraid we'd get killed in the thing, so we got rid of it.

Almost went to jail in a yellow '72 VW bug with some friends when I was fifteen years old. There were four of us in the car. Got caught buying a case of beer at a local pool hall, and the cops were sitting across the street when I walked out after the purchase. This cop had been trying to catch me for quite a while on my Yamaha YZ-125 (a dirt bike), and never thought he'd get me while on foot. He was so proud of himself!

I've been dreaming for about ten years that some day I'll buy a beetle. But I'm afraid that it will take at least ten more years before that "some day" will come...
