my country' beer

Post by nepi » Wed Oct 29, 2008 1:28 pm

I know, once there was a beer-topic, but this one shall go completely different ways...

We have here and there beer shops with beers all around the world and I love to try and taste different beers.

The aim of this topic is to post the best beer (or the best beers) from your country of origin, to make special recommendations and/or comment something about a beer you like/dislike...

and no, I'm not a drunken master :D

thx guys for your help!

Moritz from Barcelona is surprisingly good, considering that Spain is not a 'beer country'.

We don't have any local beers that are anything above average in Cyprus unfortunately...

Isn't it Kia over there? I know it's not amazing, but it's ok. Better than say Fosters and such bigger known ones.

Here In Wales Brains Bitter is the drink of choice. I'm not a bitter fan so can't give personal judgement.

When I saw Turisas/Norther/Alestorm earlier this year the turisas singer asked whats the welsh beer, someone got him a Brains and asked if Brains were the ingredients! He then tried it and liked it before going on to sing 'One More' :D

I like to try out new lager beers from around the world. My personal favourite is Tiger. Think it's an Indian beer. As I first tasted it in The Maldives.

Anyone else like this one?

Actually a few Asian beers are great. Asahi and Tsing Tao being two other faves of mine. :)

Don't drink really anything anymore- but when I did drink beer, I'd usually have- Michelob Light.

For imports, I'd drink, at one time or another, Grolsch, that Czech Pilsner stuff (can't remember the exact brand, but it was pretty good, though), Bass Ale, and sometimes Beck's. Once in a blue moon I might get Heineken Dark.

Most of the time I'd simply pass on the beer, and drink liquor.

My favorites were Jack Daniel's, as well as Gentleman Jack- neither one of which would ever give me a hangover, as long as I did not mix them with beer. I've drank a lot of different ones- such as Maker's Mark, Jim Beam, George Dickel, and another favorite, Wild Turkey 101. =)

Sometimes, I'd drink Crown, which could give you a hangover, as well as C.C. (Canadian Club), and other times I might get adventurous and drink vodkas, such as Stoli, Absolut, Smirnoff (GUARANTEED hangover there) or more often, Grey Goose. Vodka would almost without fail give me a hangover every time, so I typically would stick with whiskey.

On some occasions, I might get really out of hand, and start drinking Glenlivet, which is an expensive single malt Scotch whiskey, but it's pretty damn good though.

I also used to drink some of the local stuff (moonshine), provided that it was good and smooth- and I've had some that was truly good; made from recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. You can get really pickled off of the good stuff.

Perhaps we could start a liquor thread? It's definitely getting cold outside, and traditionally, (at least around here), that means it's time to put up the beer and break out the bottle.
