Actually, the first one isn't bad IMO. But it isn't groundbreaking either.

i like it and think there are some cool applications that it could be used for. what is the intended use of the logo?

the first one has a touch of Metallica, dunno what, but my first thought was "metallica"... mebbe coz of the "M"

the second should be all the same old rusty stuff and not a plain nuclear sign and a too modern skull... imo

I like the first one, and the second one reminds me of the NRA!
