Both are awsome players, but in terms of technique I'd go for Elias.

I've never listened to Elias. I'll have to wait for the new album to come out.

Elias has the skill.
Jani wasn't so special most Sonata fans think he was.
Yet I look forward to Cains Offering and Kotipelto ain't the only reason for that.
