Axxis are a german Hard Rock (early)/Power Metal (nowadays) Band founded in the late 80s. The also celebrated their biggest commercial successes around that time with their debut album "Kingdom of the Night" and their secound album "II". In the 90s their commercial success startes to fade away but they're still releasing albums on a more or less regular bases. One of their trademarks is the distinctive, high pitched voice of their singer Bernhard Weiss. In the early 00s they started to change the sound of the band since then they became a Power Metal Band. In 2007/2008 they took part in the "Hellish Rock Tour" together with Helloween and Gamma Ray and this year saw the release of their 20th Anniversary Album "Uitopia". They'll go on tour later this year.

Doom of Destiny was great, but a bit to heavy on female vocals in my opinion.

Re: Axxis
So what if some Axxis updated their web site? Do you really think this interests people? You really need to get something else to do if your topics begin to go to this. Also, this doesn't work as advertising either: we do have a picture what kind of music you're listening, thank you. So why am I posting then? Why is Mehida posting? The real question is, why are YOU posting these topics. You also won't even mark the source to your posts, so you take the credit to yourself. I don't believe these are your news but, judging from the style, Blabbermouth's.

1. Okay, yeah, the reason why I opened this topic is indeed pretty weak. I changed it. Happy now.
2. I think it is obvious that those news come from Blabbermouth.
3. I never said anywhere that I wrote those news nor that they were mine.
4. I post those topics to inform you about bands that you may like if you also post stratovarius. The question still is: Why do you post here if you don't care?

I cared! There were even four separate answers you gave me! And I cared that much I actually bothered to post.Ragehead91 wrote:1. Okay, yeah, the reason why I opened this topic is indeed pretty weak. I changed it. Happy now.

As for two and three, you have to mark the source in there, otherwise you state you write them yourself. Or not, because at least you use quote. Only that you fail to mention WHO you quote anyway.
But yes, now I'm happy. The general Axxis topic is more like it. I had two of their albums once, Back to the Kingdom and the one that I think now is their third newest, the one that has the song Take My Hand or somesuch in it. Sold it because it was bad. Back to the Kingdom isn't that good to me either, but especially White Lights is a very good song so it shall remain on my shelf. I've actually listened to them more than I've ever liked them, that's because they were warming up Gamma Ray and Helloween in late 2007 when I got to see those two. ^_^ Axxis never felt familiar although I had listened to them, but at least they were okay I think live.
Rage and Axxis for me are about the only early German power metallers I never grew to like much.
Oh and I didn't mean to provoke! Well actually I did because an Axxis updating their net site is not that much news for me, a topic to DISCUSS. This is Other Discussions forum anyway, no Other Insignificant Things from the German Power Metal Scene. Peace, though, let's remain friends! <3

Nice. I like the album. It basicly isn't much different from the prevous one, but they tuned down the female vocals a bit, which is a good thing.

Re: Axxis
Actually Tales of Glory Island at least is such a good song. Thank you, shuffle, for letting me hear it once again yesterday. Still my Axxis favorite is White Lights from the album Back to the Kingdom.
My thing against Axxis must be the singer. I never liked his voice. It's original but it isn't interesting. Their music mostly isn't that good either. They're basic as hell.
Anyway, recently I listened to the Led Zeppelin tribute album The Music Remains the Same. There's Axxis giving a go for Good Times Bad Times. I actually think they made a good job with it. The singer didn't use his irritating voice but kind of imitated Plant instead. It worked. He was good. The whole band was at its best on that cover.
That album, buy the way, has many ups and downs. Groups called Tierra Santa and Consortium Project are horrible. Masterplan's Black Dog rules (it's unbelievable how dimensional guy Jorn Lande is - he can cover Stargazer too! I like that Mundanus Imperum project anyway). Also post-Matos Angra version of Kashmir is pretty good while Primal Fear and even Mägo de Oz themselves are letdowns. Blaze is surprisingly good in Dazed and Confused. Elegy and White Skull are meh, although that's a hell of an effort for WS considering they interpreted Stairway. The most positive surprise for me in the album is Doro - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You out of her is remarkable to say the least! And, for not much of a surprise, Grave Digger's No Quarter is, like, the best cover ever. Those guys are amazing, period. No matter whether it's their own music, concepts, themes, grandiosity, heaviness, the absolute feeling in their music or others' music, they deliver. Also people who haven't heard their Motörhead - Overkill cover on the Pray EP yet should get it somewhere, fast!
Well, Axxis turned into The Music Remains the Same turned into Grave Digger Appreciation Post. Well, I did say a word or two about the actual Axxis I hope.

I think the singer is what makes this band special. His voice is just sort of Insane. I remember when I first liestened to the "Doom of Destiny" and sometimes I couldn't tell if that woman was singing or the singer XD

Re: Axxis
Yeah... he kinda sounds like less man than normal singers (that's a lot in power metal ;D) but I think he does it badly. If you want to hear exceptional woman interpretation, you should listen to my favorite album of them all, Operation: Mindcrime by Queensrÿche. With taking a very close look to the lyrics of course.Ragehead91 wrote:I think the singer is what makes this band special. His voice is just sort of Insane. I don't think he does it in a bad way. I think he is quite unique the way he does it. But then again, tastes are different.
