Circus Maximus

Post by RazielSR » Tue Nov 17, 2009 11:26 pm

I like this band a lot.
I listened to it a bit this summer. Now I'm listening more and it's growing a lot in me. Some people told me that this band is the best you can find if we talk about new wave of metal bands. They have just 2 albums at the moment. I'm really impressed cause these guys are really talented and are making music surprisingly technical. Play attention to the guitarist, incredible.

:D The name is strange and when I knew the band was fron Norway I said :?: . Now I think it's a cool name, but at the beginning it's really strange.

This band is having success step by step. They are working on a new album for next year. I'm gonna buy both albums and if this band continues like this, I will be an enormous fan.

They started in 2000 more or less. They were covering songs from Symphony X (they are fans) and Romeo used to make gigs with them cause the band was really promising. In 2005 they released the first album "The 1st chapter". In 2007 the second album "Isolate".

I like a lot and the compositions are perfect imo. I like a lot the voice too and the live performances are great.

PS: AAAAAAAAA  Have you ever visited the Circus Maximus? If not, you should visit the Circus Maximus at Rome. There's only some kind of open area nowadays (it's gonna be restored). You can feel that there was something great there and you can almost feel the soldiers with the chariots fighting. You can think there about new flames section topics too

That's great! I've always wanted to experience the perils of war firsthand. If only I could feel the wraith of disease, hunger, sexual inadequacy, malnutrition, irritable bowel syndrome, and erectile dysfunction as well....

If you have any recommendations, let me know!

I have a feeling you have experienced most of those. I don't think you have experienced malnutrition, perhaps not IBS, but the others seem more likely

Perhaps you have felt the wrath of someone else's erectile dysfunction. Of course that would not be so much of a wrath now would it?

I used to like them in the short period when I used to listen to Dream Theather and Pagan's Mind. Curiously enough, I don't listen to any of these bands anymore. In fact, I find their songs utterly boring. :(

But yea, I remember really liking Sin back then. So I guess I can recommend them, despite not liking their music anymore.

Yes, Isolate was a fresh album in this metal world, where everything seems the same sometimes...

Talking about "new bands" this one is the one that I'm more interested in. I heard something from Seventh wonder and sounds fantastic too.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only freak (like my brothers says :D) to listen to this amazingly awesome band! So powerful, I've seen them when they started their career when they had just released "The 1st Chapter", that at this moment I still consider the best album from the new prog/power metal bands. It's a pity that all the videos were deleted due to copyright issues, this band needs to be heard! My favourite songs: Sin, Glory Of The Empire, Biosfear, Why Am I Here?, The 1st Chapter, Imperial Destruction, A Darkenned Mind, Abbys, Zero, Mouth Of Madness, Ultimate Sacrifice :)

Next album is set to be released late 2010, can't wait!

I am so excited!

The same as if I had been holding a big lump of shit in my bowels for a week and I finally get to use the public restroom on Paraguay. That's where my tangos come from. :)

Nine is the third full-length studio album by the Norwegian progressive metal band Circus Maximus. The album will be released on June 1, 2012.

The album is being described as more melodic and dynamic than the previous album. The album is also more guitar-oriented. "The majority of the material on the new record was written by Mats Haugen and he has taken the music to a kind of simpler and more accessible approach, yet kept the progressive elements and the "nerve" that is Circus Maximus" says Truls Haugen. Circus Maximus will appear live in some selected shows in the summer before launching a full scale tour in support of the new album.

Total Length - 57:29

Mike Eriksen − vocals
Mats Haugen − guitar
Glen Cato Møllen − bass
Truls Haugen − drums
Lasse Finbråten − keyboards

Well, I'm listening to the album these days and I like it, specially the guitar solos and the guitar work. Mike sings more relaxed than in previous albums and yes, the sound is not as progressive as Isolate or The 1st chapter, it is a more direct album as they say but the final result is really really good. They have changed their style a little bit for this one, that is something good too if you know how to manage it, and it seems they know it.
