In Flames (Success), Testament (partial Success) and others are done.

This band has a lot of good stuff but Now is the time for me to get more familiar with it.

So give comments on their stuff and recommend songs and albums and your opinnions on their discography too.

No they don't!

Check Out the first 3 Albums, they were decent. Everything after that was okay, but not as good as the first 3. Yeah, I know they are VERY cheesy, but that is the reason why I like them.

It's a good band. It's more of a complementary band to me, I listen to Freedom Call only when I want a break from the stuff I listen to everyday (Stratovarius + some other favorite).

I once got hooked to Dimensions. Now it's just a regular song for me, but you might like it:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bPlCBAr1xSU&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bPlCBAr1xSU&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

In the end, it might never become your favorite band, but chances are you're eventually going to have a great time with it. This happens a lot to me, the same song that felt just like a mediocre song until 1 week before feels then like a masterpiece. It's one of the things I value the most about my music collection.

EDIT: Oh, and make sure you also listen to Light Up The Sky!

I tried getting into Freedom Call, but they were just too happy-clappy for my tastes.

No I won't skip them since I am quite certain I will like most of their stuff.

Secondly I have never enjoyed Adagio.

After Sascha Gerstner left Freedom Call, he said that he never would play in a Power Metal band again. In 2002 he joined Helloween. Why did he say that? Did anything happen while he was in Freedom Call?

Sounds like a case of Michael Kiske syndrome.

For me, their best album is Eternity.

Best songs:

Metal Invasion.
Turn Back Time.
The Quest.
Hero Nation.
Blackened Sun.
Far Away.

Edit: and Light up the sky!!!

Yeah, they're often too happy and it sometimes reduce their power, but all in all, especially those songs I quoted are really excellent!!!

Bumping for justice. Damn Legend Of The Shadowking is awesome, I think it's their best album thus far.

I agree. By far their most mature and eclectic work to date on all aspects. Still sounds Freedom Call. That feel was lost on their weakest album Circle of Life and most of the time on second worst Dimensions, but now they're really back! One of the best power metal albums ever, up there with Crystal Empire and Eternity! ^^

Whenever I listen to Freedom Call, my face lights up and I should look just stupid smiling there, doing nothing more. This music causes some serious Happy Metal Invasion inside of me!

To me it is quite the opposite. While I liked Dimensions and Circle of Life, this one is, apart from a few songs, a let-down for me.

About Adagio - Archangels in Black, the first track is an excellent starter but the rest is nothing but short power metal tunes that don't wear the Adagio-mark like those on the previous albums did. About Adagio in general, is kind of turning into a generic PM band and that's just sad...
