It sounds really bad. Do any of you have knowledge of this?

I woke up this morning and my mother told me that there was an earthquake in Concepcion, Chile. I thought "that can't be true", there wasn't one of that in like many years. Some parts of Argentina experienced a similar situation with small earthquakes around 5° and 6°, especially the provinces near the Cordillera De Los Andes: San Juan, Rio Negro, La Rioja, and even in some parts of were I live (Buenos Aires).

Around 78 victims (even more I guess), buildings made specially to handle this kind of situation literally collapsed, a bridge also. A terrible disaster, my condolences to my neighbours

Yea Yahoo news says about 122 dead so far. 8.8 is a damn strong one. I was in Mexico City for the 1985 quake, which was an 8.1 one with an "official" death toll of 10 thousand. Still get goose bumps just thinking about it

They are all fine, fortunately. The earthquake was around 3am so they were scared as hell. Thanks for your concern.
Surprisingly, the death toll is very low for a 8.8 magnitude. Mainly because the epicenter was in the middle of nowhere.

Worst earthquake in 50 years for Chile. Yes, I shudder to what would have been if the epicenter had been closer to a big city. But, it was bad enough as is. The tsunamis also were not catastrophic, thank God. As bad as it is, it could have been Helluva worse!

The death toll is now estimated to be over 700. So tragic.

2010 is now being dubbed as The Year of the Earthquake. Two very deadly quakes in just 2 months.

724 and counting, to be exactly. I hope the death toll stand still, but the numbers seem to grow even more and more unfortunatelly

When I first read that there had been another earthquake in Chile, I thought for sure Mr. Tolkki had some more south american guitar clinics and had just descended. :roll:

Now I realize it was a natural catastrophe and for once our scape-hircine is not responsible. Of course, PFM might have something to do with it. But he is the biggest scapehircismus of all, isn't he? :roll::roll:

I would like to write a poem about this incident, but i'm afraid it would be inappropriate. So instead I will say that I hope everyone is ok in Chile and lets remember things could have been much, much worse. Caracas could have been the epicenter, for example. Jaja. :roll::roll::roll:
