Avantasia - Dying for an Angel leaked

The first new Avantasia song and what can I say other than:
Fucking lame. Even the stuff on Tinnitus is better than this. And that really says a lot about this song. Boring Heavy Rock Filler. I don't see how this is supposed to be a large Anthem. Shit like Rocket Ride and Dragonfly has more arena-rock qualitys than this. Sorry, but no, thanks. Hope the rest is better than this.

It is much different (reminded me a lot of mediocre Bon Jovi songs), but there are far worse on Scarecrow.

Disagree. Scarecroe had a lot of good stuff. Nothing on there is really bad apart from Carry Me Over.

Carry Me Over, What Kind Of Love, Cry Just A Little and I Don't Believe In Your Love very pretty crappy.

It isn't worse than TS and some of Scarecrow, it is quite quite not bad. I can see an improvement, but now I'll return to Octavarium

Well, yes, Carry Me Over and the 2 ballads. Although I quite like "I Don't Belive In Your Love". That makes 7/3 for me. Still a solid record in my book.

No, it isn't worse, because it's exactly the same. I don't like the song at all. It is the typical filler, and when you listen to this song 5 or 6 times you'll press the skip button. The riff is boring. And where are the drums? The solo is ridiculous. The song is just to hear sammet's power-rock voice trying to sound cool and hard at the same time.

A filler, that's all. A radio friendly. I just hope to hear other good songs from this album. I hope to hear Russell and Jens songs, and let's see what happens.

Anyway, I suppose this is just a single and the rest of the album will be OK. I hope.

Apart from the "not worst" and "ridiculous solo" part these are exactly my thoughts.

Pretty ok song.

I think that Scarecrow is a great album. Way better than all Edguy albums since 2001...

A filler, that's all. A radio friendly
a song can't be radio friendly and a filler. if the song is made to be radio friendly and is, then it filled it's role and desired purpose
never heard a record company reject a song because they feel it could be played on the radio.

It's a filler because it's a song made without creativity, it's the same we have listened 1000000 times, and it's like a carry me over remix. And it's a radio friendly because it's a pop-rock song easy to listen in the radio. A filler because avantasia is making what everbody knows is gonna be a radio "hit", an easy choice. It's a filler that it'll fill the purpose: become a radio friendly.

Nowadays, a lot of musicians release fillers that becomes radio friendly, because people is always listening the same music remixed by this artist and the other. It's like the same fucking sound going around in all the pop-rock bands. The typical song that adds nothing to music, it's like:

"let's take the last 10 hits in soft rock industry and change the tempo, change a bit the riff, make a short solo just to show that I have a guitar in my hands and don't let the drummer sound too hard, cause my grandfather could be listening to the radio.Let's make a remix of the pop voices with a soft guitar sound trying to sell you rock for kids. You have to sound like if there was a crusade against you. A bit emo, you know. And do not forget to remember to the world, that this is music inspired by your most inner thoughts and that god came to you with a guitar just to explain you the celestial solo, and that you are making completely new music, anyway you have to do what I'm saying, do not forget that."

Sammet is just a pop rock artist nowadays, and that's a limitation for his supposed talent. Now he wants to hit the radios and change his roots just to be more popular, and it's making the same in Edguy. That's my opinion.

I hope the rest of the album will have some anthems, long songs, complicated solos, some creativity and freshness. Working with Jens Johansson, Russel Allen and others it's great, a lot of talent in the Avantasia thing, but if the result is gonna be bonjojonasvasia, because Sammet want it like that, then I won't be buying the album, because is like if I want to sell a company and I pay the most representative people of the area just to show his face and increase the final price (sales).

Good for the rest of the people who enjoy it.

Anyway, icecab, my friend...as you know I'll never have a music discussion with you. Have a nice day :)

thats a interesting use of the word filler. all songs are filler if a song is a filler if it fills a purpose.

is this about the way he presents the music?
if he just said "this is a song that i enjoy" would you pass it by with greater ease

Unluckily I couldn't listen to it cause it was removed from YT, but reading all the comments I've now got an idea of what is it: A complete disaster :?

Another failure for Tobias, and counting...

I never heard it, either. Sounds bad though. I usually don't like even the good nowadays metal hard rockers, sans basic or even worse stuff...

I trust it can't be worse than I Don't Believe in Your Love though. Balu had a perfect list of by far the most horrific moments on The Scarecrow, and this song is the worst of them all. :) Oh, needs to add Lost in Space by the way. And I think Cry Just a Little actually has a good chorus, but that's about it. :|

EDIT: Lollercoaster... I actually wrote "I Don't Believe in Love", a song from my very favorite album, can you believe it?! >:E

You could still finde some good Edguy-like stuff here and there but overall, yes, it clearly showcases the direction they were going to take with the next few releases.

I still ADORE their early stuff (Edguy until including Hellfore Club, the first two Avantasias and Part of Scarecrow) but I can't stand most of the new stuff. But whatever. We can't tell Tobi what to do and his music seems to sell pretty good. It is just hard to understand for me that the genious who created Albums like Hellfire Club, Mandrake, Theater Of Salvation and Savage Poetry can consider himself satisfied with all this pop-rock stuff or even say that this is his best work. It just doesn't go into my head. But then again, it is his music and if he likes it I guess it is allright.

Well, it isn't anything spectacular... For some reason, though, I like it. o.O I take that song as a tribute to Scorpions more than your basic boring Edguy hard rocker. Either way, Klaus's voice fits the song very greatly. Also the sounds of instruments, effects and the atmosphere are somewhat there as far as I can tell with that quality...

Maybe the song sounds more honest than before? So that the style has truly changed.

I like it. :) I like Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and Scorpions, too, so, no miracle? This song has some guts, trying and working melodical solutions. Also, I love the canon singing at the end. ^^ And of course Meine's voice. Nu-Sammet's made a 3/5 star hitsong! ;O

I agree, Meine's voice is great and what he does with Scorpions it is what i admire, but it doesn't save this song

People just refer to Bon Jovi because these kind of songs bring their style of making music into their minds. The same happens to me. No-one said the keyboard was Bon Jovish. I actually almost wrote about the playing being succesfully somewhere between Avantasia and Scorpions, but I didn't. :(

Structurally and tempo-wise this song reminds at least many of us non-music-knowers of Bon Jovi. :)
