Needless to say I am extremely excited about this. I can't wait for the album and the tour!

I think they'll need to release an album like that just to get all the fans back they've scared away with Unarmed.

unarmed= not metal
armed= metal

i wonder why people expected metal from a album named unarmed.

Right. How do they expect us to enjoy a song unless its heavy and loud? :roll:

The reason Unarmed sucked had nothing to do with "not being heavy" ;)

Because Unarmed is, for some reason, usually listed as a studio album (not compilation / remake), you think they suddenly change their style completely? Apparently you have no idea about what's so great in Helloween. You always just wait for more power metal, and power metal only. It is like some musical truth that there is power metal. And most other music is bad. Unarmed is not power metal so Helloween scared away their customers. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Some rocky riffs this time in the video. Not Weikath's or Gerstner's most natural stuff. They lost the happy metal feel somewhere after TDR even though they got a great such guitarist, Sascha Gerstner. They're heavier than ever. I still hope there are some twinkle-in-the-eye songs, major guitars, some genious high-pitched shredds and stuff that are Helloween. So that won't become even more generic anymore. Nevertheless, I'm guessing the new album will be miraculous for me as every Helloween album has been this far. This band must be about the most eclectic and relaxed bands in history of music.

That was pretty deep. May I suggest you some Yanni to try out?

Exactly. And I just admire the fact that they had the guts to do something like that, knowing how close minded some power metal fans can be. I mean, come on, they were obviously not going to change direction. Anyway, those couple of riffs that were on the vid sounded pretty good and very heavy. I hope we get to see more videos of the work in progress soon :)

Usually, they don´t fail. Let´s see what Weiki, Sascha and Andi can create.

Don't forget Markus. :wink: Also, at least on Gambling, the drums were basically "written" by Dani, too.

Yeah, well, I think they cannot fail, at least for me, whatever they release. I think Helloween and Stratovarius are the only bands for me that always seem to deliver, automatically, even if it's against common view. Like the albums Pink Bubbles Go Ape, Chameleon, Keeper: Legacy, Stratovarius- or any album from these two.

Same here. These two bands and Iron Maiden, for me, they can't do wrong... Well I guess the only exceptions would be the Blaze era albums and two songs from Chameleon that I do not like at all :wink:

The Blaze albums were pretty good I think... Maiden kind of got stuck in a rut and I think it was good that Bruce left for a while, especially upon hearing the albums since Brave New World! Really rediscovered the fire and passion that was missing from No Prayer and (to a lesser extent) Fear of the Dark.

Chameleon really wasn't my cup of tea.

Which songs? For me the worst would be Revolution Now I think, and the others are great. :P

About Iron Maiden, I have only heard those albums I have (The Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Brave New World, Dance of Death - I'll definitely need to buy Somewhere in Time it seems! :D). According to those, I think Bruce has even become better singer in his 40s...?

Yes, Revolution Now.. I always skip it. The other one is Music... can't stand it. Giants, on the other hand, is a masterpiece in my opinion :)

Blaze era albums.. well I guess some of the songs are good, but my God.. the voice :? And yep, you need Somewhere In Time!

I never said that I think that they've chanegd their direction. I know it was just an experiment and something special for their anniversary. They said in some interviews before the release that they're going to do a new album after Unarmed. I only said that with this album they may have put some of their fanbase of with this album and reading a lot of comments all over the internet it seems they did. A lot of fans, including me, didn't like it. Okay, saying they "scared away the fans" is maybe a bit too harsh, but fact is that there are a lot of people who didn't like this one.

Looking forward to a new Helloween album. I only hope they don't mess around with Andi's vocals as much as they did on Unarmed. I'm sure that for example in the verses of If I Could Fly you can really hear his voice is heavily corrected. And Andi doesn't need that at all.:)

The short pieces in the video of the first post sound really good. Hard 'n Heavy. Let's hope we'll get more of these clips soon!:D

Live version of Giants with Andi. I think he did a great job on this one.

I remember that Andi said on an interview that it was a "calculated risk". They knew many people would not like it, they still went ahead with it and I respect them for that. I personally loved the album, but of course they cannot please everybody. If I were in the band, I would feel the same way: If you like it, great. If not, too bad, just don't listen to it and quit bitchin' .

Yeah, I know you, Ragehead, know it's now "a real" album. It's something else. It's a trick. It's a joke. It's Helloween! If they lost one fan because of the album, that fan never got what's so great in Helloween in the first place.

I still can't think why people even think Unarmed is some new album. It's a remake, a compilation. It doesn't have any new songs, only recycled versions from old. Alternatively, I might add. With humour. Because of that good old self-irony that band has always brought up the most.

Babylon: yeah, I thought you're going to say Music. It was a big and boring song for me, too, but whenever I think of the lyrics I find the beauty of Uncle Roland's philosophy there, and the music actually becomes pretty ok too. :P

Yea I suppose the lyrics aren't bad, but I could never get into this song. I can't remember the last time I heard Chameleon from start to finish. I did listen to Better Than Raw in my car today... what a great album, they need to play a couple songs from that one live again!

Better Than Raw for me has always been one of their worst ones. :/ This, like Chameleon or whatever Helloween album, though, temporarely becomes the very best Helloween album when I'm listening to it. :D

Totally agree, awsome album!
