How would one go about recording songs from a guitar to a pc

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

How would one go about recording songs from a guitar to a pc

Post by stratoplayer » Sat Dec 23, 2006 1:11 am

I'm way too lazy and busy to compose songs note by note, but I would really like to record some riffs, runs, solos, songs from my guitar to my computer (seeing how I have no access to a studio or other means of recording). So, does anyone recommend any software/hardware that could help me out?

Line 6 GuitarPort is a good bit of equipment. Allows you to plug your guitar straight into your pc, and comes with some basic and simple-to-use software.

I've heard good recommendations for the line6, but I just wanted to make sure...

The Guitarport can help me mix songs a bit? As in import the drum beat or creat it right there?

Adobe Audition is really easy to use, that's what I use

You can record several tracks and mix'em, you don't have a drum cahine although... create a drums rhythm with fruity loops and then export it and loop it, it sounds more complicated than what actually is! (a piece of cake!)

If you're REALLY lazy, you can create a drum track on GuitarPro, then export it as a midi file to Adobe Audition... it's like Fruity Loops, but a more amateur and cheap way of doing it (and by cheap I don't mean price-wise :D)

you're right! and GP5's got nice drums sounds, it's easier than fruity loops, I change my mind

You want LAZY? Here's lazy, grab the drum track of several songs and mix them at your leisure, you don't even have to know how to use GP5
