hey guys, I wanted to start a topic about classics act that brough rock and roll and metal to the world.
I wanted to start with the king Elvis Presley because trough the years Ive Found that very few people in metal and rock scene dont like him, some dont even know him or ever listened one of his songs! :(

If we got to thank somebody for the music we enjoy today, is this guy,he put everything together (to make it simple, black & white music) broke boundaries and make rock and roll the music for change, fun, rebelious, freedom, and everything that rock stands for.

I dont want to make this an historic and hyper detailed tribute to the king, what do you guys out there think?!

A great way to make a topic un-serious is to put "Talk serious" in the title. Thus...

Elvis in the musician talk kinda made me chuckle, because he really wasn't a "Musician", he was an entertainer that used the medium of music extremely well. He inspired a lot of music, as well as the attitude of rock, but as far as my own listening goes, I'll go as far back as the Beatles in the "Rock" line, and for any other classics, I look to Blues musicians.

he really wasn't a "Musician"
A musician is a person who writes, performs, or makes music.
two out of three made him famous, in 3/3 if we count everything since he arranged and cowrote songs. why would he not be a musician?

As I understood it, his actual contributions to composition were exaggerated.

i know some were for publishing where he was not involved but some websites said he wrote songs that just did not get put on the albums and that You'll Be Gone had his involvement. i do think the song interpretation and arrangement is more of a musician quality than writing the song itself though.

here is the deal, some of the elvis first hit were popular music arranged as rock and roll , or rockabilly by that period.
Later on Elvis or his manager I dont remember well, make outsider songwriters give elvis half of the credit of songwriting, since elvis did a lot of arragements of songs, but mainly for rolayties!

in any case, elvis gave us rock and roll, before him , all music was piano oriented and came from a music factory called "tin pan alley" who just wrote songs like they were making hot dogs.
elvis took the guitar , brought together the blues & country, black and white, he was a brilliant singer, very few people change music in such a positive way like him. and that is why he is and remains the king of rock and roll.

haha of course not, he could play guitar ,bass, he did wrote some songs on a couple of albums and of course he could perform and sing like nobody at that time.

lets put it this way, before elvis the most heavy music was rythm and blues, and was of course banned for most of the white people.

voice is a instrument, can;t just knock singing like that. it gets the same academic study and performance credit as any other instrument and the body has features just like any other instrument that lead to sound and music
