Thank you! :D
Seems like the forum has calmed down a bit since the biggest shitposting extravaganza and people can actually discuss. I'll have to try to contribute a bit more :D

Fantastic quality and production. Is this your first?

Thanks! This is our first full-length album. We've released a few singles on Spotify and Bandcamp before, with the same producer. Just the right blend of wizard and slave driver :D

I Just listened to the album. Very nice! My favorites parts were the melodic licks and the solos in each song. The bass leads were much appreciated as well. To my surprise, I didn't notice until after I listened that there were no synths to be found. The vocal harmonizations and guitar harmonizations really helped to add the depth to the chord progressions that backing synths usually help achieve.

I'll have to listen to the album again with my studio monitors so that I can review the production in depth, but just based on this casual listen, the album's production sounds quite modern. I enjoyed the tone of the guitars for both rhythm and lead parts and that the bass guitar was easily audible. I prefer more presence and brightness in the cymbals, but that's a minor nitpick.

Congrats on your first studio album! I'm still working on mine.

Thanks! As one of the band's guitar players I'm very grateful

Since we don't have a keyboard player we tend to keep synths to a minimum. As a 2 guitar band it could be a bit tricky to have keys as well. We do love Wintersun and Strato's symphonic Elements stuff, and might even end up with some bigger synth pieces in the future, but we try not to lean on them too heavily. We're not keen about the idea of playing concerts with a backing track.

Good luck with your album! Any estimates on a release date yet? :)

I have no idea when it will be completed, exactly, but I'd guess maybe in a few months. I'm kind of a one-man-band and producer / engineer, so it has taken me much longer than I would've liked. At the same time, it was a lot of work to get as far as I did. I'd say the album is half way though the recording phase. I maintain a huge spreadsheet in order for me to keep track of what parts have been completed and what still needs to be worked on, so I don't accidentally forget something.

You mentioned that Everlore is a two guitar band. That's cool because then your live shows can more faithfully reproduce the sound of the studio recordings. :) Do you have any juicy recording details you'd like to share? :D For the rhythm guitar, did you double track your takes? Did you record the left channel and the other guitarist recorded the right channel or something like that?

For my album, I double tracked all of the rhythm guitars and panned them hard left and right. Actually, I recorded the D.I. signal from my guitar directly. I still need to actually record the output of the cabinet by routing the recorded D.I. through the amplifier. I have a device which allows me to match the impedance that the amp expects to receive. It's more work but it gives me more flexibility over the sound in the end. Sorry, I'm a production nerd. :crazy1:

We decided not to double track our guitar tracks in order to sound a bit more crisp. My rhythm track is panned to the right
In the beginning we were certain that we would just re-amp all the dry guitar tracks with our own amps and cabs, but our producer's Helix proved to be quite an impressive tool so all the guitar sounds ended up being digital!

We had scheduled one weekend for the drum recordings and I was a bit skeptical. I thought we'd need more time, but our drummer actually ended up doing all the tracks in one day

Nice. That’s what made me buy the album. The guitar tone stick out to me first second of listening. :music: :headbang:

Wow! Yes, amp sims have been improving greatly over the years. Also, I'm somewhat confused. If your rhythm track is panned to the right, and the other guitarists' rhythm track is panned to the left, isn't that double tracking? ??? Unless you meant double tracking in this context to mean that you'd play your parts twice and the other guitarist would play his parts twice as well. To me, that would be quad tracking.

Your drummer must have really knew these songs well in order to track the entire album in one day! Very impressive! Now, how many weeks did it take me to record the drums again? In fairness, I didn't rehearse any of the songs ahead of time, but I realize now that that was a mistake!

What's your favorite song or moment on the album, for you?

Yeah, what I meant was we didn't double our own individual rhythm guitar parts, so no quad-tracking :D
On some of the songs the rhythm parts are nearly identical left and right, but often there are differences (e.g. harmonies in Stranger Skies, Innocence and The Poet) due to the freedom of having 2 guitarists. I've always composed songs with two guitars in mind, with a kind of an 80's Iron Maiden mindset :D

I'd say Race for the Sun was one of the most fun tracks to record. Beyond that it's hard to pick a favorite song.
