I have a Yamaha DGX-300, and I'm very satisfied with it.

But the best thing to do, if you want my opinion, is to go to a music store and try the keyboards yourself so you could realize which one is the best for you. :)

I think it's important to try before buying.

I don't know where you live in Norway, but I'm almost sure you can find a good store in Oslo. If there isn't, well... I suggest you my Yamaha DGX-300 :D

I were on a music-store today,and they DON'T have any yamaha-stuff...They can get different Korg-models...

Korg are excellent synths, but it's essentially professional stuff, so it's very expensive.

If you know what Yamaha model you want, you can probably order via the net... again, I really like my synth. It has 6 octaves, pitch bend, reverb and many interestings sounds - you can even create your own sounds with the dual function. It is midi compatible with floppy disk. But I don't know if this is what you're searching, anyway I think it's a really good synth for metal. ;)

I heard that too. :)

But they're probably more expensive than most of the Yamaha models.

Well, that depends on what you want. But I think the Triton LE can be bought for a very reasonable price.

I thought that the question might fit in here ( and as I'm still jr. member ( some people don't have time all the day! ) I can't post things on my own )
Imagine you've got 1000€ and you want to buy a synthie, maybe e-bay or maybe not, which one would you chose?
???

You do understand my ( band, not entertainer ) situation, don't you?
And NO, the answer is not 3 DGX-300, my DX7 is enough.

I think that Korg synths are the best. But like Angel Of Death said they are very expensive. But Roland and Yamaha are very good too. :)

I HATE MY YAMAHA PSR - 290. But it was free, so I suppose beggars can't be choosers. would like a nice korg or something w/ some fun stuff on it... the one i have is too hard to change sounds quickly, it's not designed for people who play metal, hahaha. and... i cna't stand keys that aren't full length. i've been playing piano for like 15 years and it if doesn't have 88 keys...
haha. so yeah, the moral of my story
DON'T GET A YAMAHA PSR-290
(or else...) >=(

Well.....any decent keyboard is. All depends on what you want.
I have a fully expanded Roland XV-3080 synth-module and a Yamaha DSR-2000 keyboard (it´s an old crappy one, but work´s perfect as midi-controller).

First of all you have to tell us how would you like to spend then we can suggest you something..by the way is your choice..if you want some strato sounding you should get a roland plus some expansion cards ( Orch, Supersession..) but with korg ( i onw Karma) you can get some nice sounds..is it true that is difficoult to manage with, but not that difficoult..if you manage with synth programming is quite easy..!
Kurzweil for me are tooo expansive and FOR ME arent that good in power metal..the have the most powerfull and solid Engine in the market but i prefer them in other genre..

So..tell us how would you like to spend and we can help you!

First suggestion xp series..

Am a not a keyboarder, but I will try to help ..
Korg Triton is great. It has a lot of resources and you can cehck the metal bands such as Savatage, Nightwish, Rhapsody, they use Korg .
Roland is good too, but I am more a Korg user, I can't tell you much about Roland (I know of a guitar synth they have and it is perfect ... GR-33 .. absolutely great...)
---
You can try the Korg n-364 (I don't know the number exactly). It is less expensive then Triton and it is till good.
And Korg Karma, that is less expensive than a Triton (usually)..
---

I don't know how prices are in Norway.. but in Brazil any musical instrument is really really really expensive (for u to have an idea : a cd in Brazil is about 20 reais . This is already expensive for a good part of Brazil. And a triton is about 8.000 reais)...

Ok people!
The time has come!
I've got 'bout 20000 NOK (in euro it will be about 2500) to buy synth stuff for.
What I want out of it is sort of Strato-sound.
I read somewhere here that Roland XP-stuff should be ok with some expansion-boards.
Wich of those XP's is the best?
And on the other side: The MIDI-controller?
Wich one would be the BEST?

2500 are a great amount..you could get a Korg Karma ( and i could pass all my sounds, infact i play Pwer Metal ) and also another module like Roland jv 2080 or a Jv 1080..they are both used by Jens and janne warmen..
To have good lead i Suggestyou also to get a Polysix..used with outboard FX it can givbes you a lot of really interesting sounds..Jens has got a lot of it and still uses it!
Email me if you wanna talk ok? or add me on icq.. 285934656 !
See ya..
