is there any guitar player in here that can play malmsteen?? i wanted to know because i wanted to know if is there a way to record something to have som fun!!

Yes I can play Malmsteen, not all of his stuff but some of it. I dont have any recording equipment. I play along with records and that's a lot of fun.

I can play some of Trilogy Suite, Rising Force, Demon Driver and a bit of Black Star.

I can play anything you want from malmsteen... Everything.

My son is learning some songs, etc from a Malmsteen instructional DVD he has. I think he downloaded it

Playing Malmsteen isn't that hard at all. Of course, it's not EASY either. Once learnt, and the same technique.

But maybe Satriani, Vai or Petrucci coud have done it because they are very good

Playing Malmsteen isn't too hard, but you got a point. Playing like Malmsteen is impossible, even if you had all the same guitars, amps and equipment, you still wouldn't sound EXACTLY like Malmsteen. Not even Vai and the others mentioned above.

Malmsteen isn't good because he's extremely fast and stuff (check Rusty Cooley, Jason Becker or even Marty Friedman, they're MUCH faster than Malmsteen), he's good because he has his style, and only he can give that feeling to his music.

I know for a fact Malmsteen couldn't play what Vai plays with the same feeling he does. They're completely different guitar players, with very unique styles.

Play Azylium form Alchemy than your can play, and that song is very long and hard. And if you play it with Yngwies palying show you are good, that isn't easy!!!!

well, hi everyone, mi name is ernesto, i play guitar and i been playing for about 3 years, the electric guitar, and i had played about 1 year the acoustic guitar before, so, to me, no one can play a complete song of Malmsteen, as acurate, and whit that clean sound that he gets, you may hit the notes, but not whit the same thecnic, this is my opinion.
there was a time, wen a 16 or 17 years old guy began to say that he was beter than me to play the guitar, and he also say he could play trilogy sweep from Malmsteen, and wen the meeting come, and he played his song and other liks and arpegios... well IT WAS PURE SHIT!!! jajajjajajjajaa, but now, in this time, he still says he plays bether than me, and obiusly, he still think he can play Malmsteen, of course you know he is playng the song, but it doesnt sound cool, IS NOT WHAT YOU PLAY, IT IS HOW YOU PLAYIT.

remember, this is only my opinion, of course, some of you, may be that good, and be able to play some Malmsteen's song whit good sound, but i dont think that you do it at the same musical level that he does.

so.. what do you think??

ernesto, bad english for sure but anyway, your point is clear and hits the nail. Nobody but Yngwie IS Yngwie. Fuck the rest of the world, they can't be him. Haha.

You're right. And one other thing. Playing fast is easy. Playing out YOURSLEF is what really gives the worth of a guitarist. Being creative and not copying others. With that I do not mean that you can not use inspiration and licks you like.

you got a real point there Benphu, one time in an entreviue, timo said that he often get asked, "how can i do, to play like you?" and he answer, you shuld worry about, what to do to play like "you"

I can't see the point in someone's will to copy an already evolved playing style. It's boring and shows the lack of creativity.

The creativity is the hardest part, but once I just let my mind wander and envision the music, I try to play it. I can't play all of the music in my head, not that technically competent yet, but it is fun trying. I also like to fool around with feel, phrasing is what makes a lot of the difference. I ahve always enjoyed Ynqwie, he was one of the first to excite me to play guitar and I love to hear him talk about it, I have seen some of his instructions.
