Why are there no good drummers ANYWHERE????

I am really getting sick of this. I've got a complete lineup ready, perfect soundproofed practise area (with a drumkit!) set... and no drummer. Every drummer I find around here 'just likes some Indie pop/rock' or plays jazz. I respect Jazz drummers immensely, but dammit they cant do what I need them to. I make the Indie pop/rock drummers listen to some Emperor or Stratovarius, and they cry.
Does anyone else lament the lack of metal drummers?

the problem is that not too much drummers play double bass, i`ve seen very good drummers but when they have to play fast double bass...they simply just can`t. try to search a little more , i know there must be sopmeone in your town that can play stratovarius, it is not hard

PD: i`m a drummer

But is it absolutely required to play fast double bass? I mean, good drummers are good drummers because they know what sounds good with drums and basically... double bass doesn't.

what???
and to the user who dislikes double bass: i like it as long as it fits the song AND is not overdone, when they play the drums as fast as humanly possible without purpose it sucks and gives me headaches
@neonvomit
there has to be someone half decent who can play double bass

@ Stratoplayer: Well if there is, I havn't found them yet. I don't require anyone who can do OTT Dream Theater- esque stuff, I just need someone who can use double bass pedals and keep a solid rhythm, and can play blast beats. I know that's a lot to ask, but I'm aiming high here. I'm writing songs and practising like hell, I just need a drummer for it to all come together.
It's very frustrating. Does anyone else go through the same problems?

But is it absolutely required to play fast double bass? -->of course not,
you have the freedom to put or not to put double bass in a song. just remeber that double bass makes it more powerfull.
i am a drummer, i play in various types of music from death grindcore metal to pop-rock and this is what i can say:
1.- a good real good drummer must be complete and should try to dominate all types of playing. from fast blasting with double bass to relaxed technical progressive rock.
2.- double bass DOES sound good with drums, if you dont know how to fit a double bass part on a song..... well that is your problem.
3.- i was talking about the people who play good with hands but they dont realise that they have to practise the feet too, its very important.
that way people like neonVomit could make his metal proyect real and play happy with his new band.

The problem is, the whole double pedal technique is quite difficult/takes a long time to develop. Jazz players have better things to practise, like playing 4 polyrhythms at the same time and whatnot
I guess it's not TOTALLY necessary for fast double-pedals. It is TOTALLY necessary for the drummer to listen to Stratovarius, Emperor, Nile etc. and not want to kill himself or start crying, but say ''Maybe I can't do that exactly the same, but I'll try to approach it in a different way"

I'm a drummer myself and I use double-pedals alot. I'm pretty sure that a good drummer with technique and lots of endurance can learn how to play double-pedals pretty fast. It isn't that hard.

If you're about to play some fast songs, why not just start slow and build up the tempo? In that way the drummer can get the pedal-technique meanwhile the rest of the band get the feeling of the song.
Edit: And YES, it's always a bit easier if the drummer likes the same kind of music as the rest of the band

.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to 'teach' someone how to play metal. I need someone ready to get right into it.
Oh well. I'll let everyone know when I finally do find a drummer...

it could lead to having a very good drummer.....but it's not the best place where someone can promote his band.........it's a difficult situation....

Great. Either Greece (where there are almost no opportunities to go anywhere) or Berklee (which is on the other side of the Atlantic)
Wonderful choices I have. Oh well.

Personally i have found the Perfect drummer for my band . We play thrash-death metal and the guy rules at the double bass . Soon i will post some samples at my website and also the guy doesnt have any drums at his house and he is practising with pillows !!!
The reason why there are not good drummers in the wide area is that drumming needs soul and courage..!!!

Here the problem is with good guitarrists.
