record strato songs...

Here musicians can talk to each other about making music etc. Of course if you are not a musician you are still welcomed to this board, but the topics should somehow be about making music.

Why ? isn't the original song sang by a woman ?

I agree that some women can sing Strato songs really good.
The only thing is to keep in mind that someone covering a song will ALWAYS sing differently, especially if it's a woman. And that's the good thing in cover.

We could make an online band.... i play most of Strato's songs on keys(obviously hardest solos like those in Learning to Fly or Glory of the World are arranged following my style...Jens is Unique)

Anyway as soon i'll can i'll upload Cold Winter Nights played by my band...(we have a SHE on vocals and it's sound good!)

I play guitar! Would be cool to do an online thing!

Here's a quick clip of a Nightwish song I did with all the insturments MIDI but the guitar. Was showing someone a cheap way to record guitars.

http://students.kennesaw.edu/~jhinds/GuitarPort.mp3

It's Dead to the World, and the rhythm is slightly different. Made it more interesting to play. It's all just one rhythm guitar, except for last part which is a second guitar doing a little lead.

Maybe I'll record a Starto song or something. And hey, if anyone needs an online guitar player I'll help!

For a cheap and easy way to record guitar *cause it cost a shit load to have the necessary mic's, cabinets, effects, etc* I used a Line6 GuitarPort.

http://www.guitarport.com/

It's $100 roughly, hooks up to your computer via USB, and I've gotten no latency problems ever with it. Use a recording program to record it as an input and you have a good way to get a good guitar sound. Can set many effects too, its just like a POD but for computer.

It's not professional level quality for a final album, but I'm using it to record all the guitars for my demo solo metal CD.

It's cheap and you can make it sound like whatever you want!

Well, for that Nightwish song it was actually a MIDI I found online somewhere.

I opened it up in the music software I use, Cakewalk. Then I added an audio track for each guitar part, selected the Guitar Port as an import, and recorded it directly. I then was able to do anything I wanted with the mix to make everything sound right.

http://www.cakewalk.com/

I use Home Studio because the metal album I'm working on is very string oriented *not as in it's strings with metal, but strings are a main backing part - kind of like Nightwish in some of their songs*. So I actually write all my music that's not guitars in Cakewalk and then record the guitars manually. This allows me to get an idea if it's good or not before I go and record the keyboards with actual keyboards.

My electric is missing several strings, so I used an acoustic for this. My sound recording is crap so you may need to turn up your volume. This was a very half-assed recording, so dont expect anything fancy. I just saw this topic and decided this would be a fun thing to do!

Enjoy, and keep the recordings coming, guys and gals! This is fun.

Yeah, terrible sound quality :(
But guitar playing was good, even the end was little too fast.

I do the same that you do but with guitar pro, i compose my songs there and then i record but i cant import a mp3 or wav file to guitar pro so i put the mic near the pc amp and the guitar amp but the quality sucks.

Add me, i need to ask you some questions: skateboarder_10@hotmail.com

Too fast? Uh, yeah, I guess it is. I had nothing to time myself by.

I claim a mulligan.

Oh yeah, I recorded it via a microphone plugged into my computer. i just balanced it on the edge of the table close to where i was playing.

uh, I just used the basic windows sound recorder for that, cause it was short and i didnt bother doing anything fancy. For recording/mixing kind of shit, i use either Reason or Cool Edit.

I think these songs would be great covered by a woman:

FOREVER
TEARS OF ICE
BLACK DIAMOND
4000 RAINY NIGHTS
MILLION LIGHTYEARS AWAY
GALAXIES
WE HOLD THE KEY
DESTINY
SEASON OF FAITHS PERFECTION
LEAD US INTO THE LIGHT
COMING HOME
FALLING INTO FANTASY
KILL THE KING

Kill the King isn't even a Stratovarius song. It was originally by Rainbow.
