How faithfull do you keep to a song while playing it??

for example, do you try to play it exactly as the composer wrote it or do you add a few stuff to it? i try to remain faithfull but sometime, especially in the really fast parts i kinda do a causi-scale somewhat similar, or i change the fingering position if it is a bit too complicated....
how do you guys (and gals) manage?

I usually keep the main rhythm parts- they are often the ones everyone knows. When it comes to the solo, i usually stay faithful, but occasionally ill play any cool sounding lick ive come up that fits with it. Most listeners dont notice something subtle like that, but they can pick up the feel that youve made the song "yours".

I like to give a "dirty" sound on the songs. Its cool...but, the rhythym parts i always try to reproduce equal...the solos...just a part, its cool when you put your FACE in the music...better than play like a cd-player.

I stick to the way it sounds best and usually the composer got it best in the first place. Musically that is. But guitar solos are hardly ever composed, the original players usually improvise most of it, why should I copy them? Besides, I'm quite limited technically so many things are beyond my abilities to follow note by note so I make my own version as the song goes. Seems like I'm not even able to play the same exact thing twice :D

Especially in rythm parts, I tend to add my own touch :) I shape it in the way it sounds best to me.

i improvise the fast scales, and change fingering positions BUT to match the melody of the song... i hope...

if the solos have a certain melody that reminds you of that song, I try to play ut like it sounds, if it is a scale or something like that of course I improvise.
