Maybe you should tell us first, what kind of music you usually play. I play a lot of Stratovarius music, and I'm using S.I.T. "Electric Guitar 'Power Wound' Nickel" strings, size 9.
When I want to play more heavier music, I use "Blue Steel" strings, size 11.

i play metal style, but i am truly a drummer, these strings are a present for my brother. the ernie ball superslinkies haven't been changed for more than 2 years. i want to know what strings tolkki uses for his electric. i am leaning on getting d'adarrio exl 120's. i am not that big into guitars, but i like playing his ibanez

Can't remember exactly, but I think Tolkki mentioned GHS strings somewhere. And the cauge, E, B and G from 9-42 set and D, A and low E from 10-46 set. So it would "ultra light top and light bottom strings". I wouldn't recommend that light strings for anyone but that's just me, I play "light top heavy bottoms", 10-52.
But unless you have active pickups and massive effect rack, I recommend some warm sounding light cauge strings, like d'Addario nickel wound 10-46. Otherwise it'll sound like shit.

10-46 or 10-52 is the way to go.

Lol in fact I'd like 11-56 or such for my playing style, but I dislike the muddy sound thick strings make so I'm forced to live with strings that I have to treat like women... gently.

Yeah I believe I saw that somewhere too.
I honestly wouldn't be able to play with such light strings, especially in an Eb-tuned guitar

My (main) guitar is Eb tuned, and I use a 010 set from higher Eb to Gb, and a 012 set from there on. Pretty wicked sound I tell you. 's what Blind Guardian use

I play with 9 strings and it sounds and/or more importantly feel great. I would recomend it to anybody who likes to take out their anger on the guitar though... like Jaakko said treat them like women... Gently[/quote]
