Record companies list?

Right, so as some of you might know, my band
Winter's Verge has finished recording and producing of our first album. So yeah, we've got a bunch of local interest and stuff, so where do we go from here? We've decided to send a bunch of promo copies of the album to a bunch of record companies.
So far, we've thought of these ones:
Nuclear Blast
Sanctuary
Spinefarm
Century Media
Black Lotus
Noise Records
Roadrunner
Some big, some small, but we figured we'd go for all the ones we can.
Anyone have any more suggestions? Record companies who would be interested in this type of music? (For those of you who don't know, we play power/progressive metal)

how about JVC and Sony? They are huge but its worth a shot....

Screw that, the really big companies will not be interested in anyone unless they can already sell thousands of records on their own. And metal is not marketable for them, ergo they will not want to bother with us.
We're looking for specific metal labels. Smaller labels, we've already thought of the big ones.

I have this alike problems (or I'm atleast just wondering).
What should we do after we have our songs and band ready? what to do first? what next? what then and so on...?
And I'd like to know who usually decides what.
(and no, we're not that far yet that we'd have actually any songs completely done, so I'm just asking so that I know when the time comes.)

Oh I have nothing against this, it's just weird to see threads that I don't even remember starting

Hint: try sending stuff to Metal Blade records, they're one of the few companies that accept unsolicited material.
