Hey guy's well i need some help because i want to write some great lyrics like Stratovarius because they are just EPIC!!! and i don't really have inspiration for writting lyrics=(... I wonder where Timo Tolky gets his inspiration??...

I have been writting some lyrics but i don't know if you define them as "EPIC".. well here goes for nothing=(!!

Title: "Beast"

Darkness in my dreams, tells me the dark side of my life
What should I do, is it a dream or a reality?

You can fight the monster inside you, don’t let it go..

Madness is all over you; try to fight your destiny
You are destined to kill every one that you loved

Bloods of innocent humans on your hands
There’s no turning back
Screaming for help won’t do anything

Darkness in real life is all around us
Dreaming to be normal
Being normal will not change anything
There’s a beast inside you trying to get out
Your soul is not good in heaven and not good in hell

you think im that poetic thank you i guess i have a hidden talent to write some poems=)..

Well if you don't have an inspiration or a muse to inspire you will be hard to write good lyrics!

The lyrics are particullary interesting, may wonder where from did you get that inspiration. But as my friend Polaris said, if you don't have something that really makes you write lyrics (a muse like he said), then it would be hard
I suggest to take everyday's moments as something unique and try to make them epic just as you want. Even if it sound silly, you won't believe how many great lyrics come from simple stuffs

Unfortunately no one is going to write a song that's exactly like the people they idolize, the best you can do is write in a style that works for you.

It also helps if you have something which inspires you to write.

I think of writing as a creative, or emotional outlet.
If you're struggling to write lyrics maybe you have nothing to say?
And if you have nothing to say, why are you writing lyrics!?

I couldn't agree more...

I’d say the hardest part of lyrics for me would be technical parts of syncing it to music. The poems can flow and be there, but the song lyric needs to be attached to something and that makes it a whole new animal.

I find that I write my best stuff when I am extremely pissed off or upset, so my inspiration usually comes from a darker place.

I think your song is great. Keep it up!

Songwriting should be about how you feel, so all you need to worry about is getting your thoughts on paper!

People gets inspiration for writing lyrics from anything they consider worthy. It also depends on your own mood, or how you feel that day; with that, ideas start to flow

My lyrics will just come to me out of the blue, something simple will inspire me and I'll get lyrics in my head.

However that's not always the case, some of my longer songs I have to keep coming back to write and it takes me a long time to finish those.

But basically it's really whatever comes to my mind

Maybe what this thread needs is a song inspired in A10's thoughts about everything he comments

hey guys, well Im just an amateur in this matter, but im have to say that if theres any rule in songwriting must be NOT TO SIT DOWN AND EXPECT TO WRITE A SONG RIGHT AWAY.

tons and tons of ideas came for boring math classes, long bus rides, long walks, being in the toilet , just before get sleep, joggin...i mean, when your mind is totally relaxed or open..you get the point.

those greats riff and ideas that are in yout sub consiosness will flown , just be sure you got some pen and pencil, your cellphone or something to record your idea, because you dont want a miss it!!!
then you can break it down in home and improve it. this is what work the best for my.

I was trying to do something in the lines of Avantasia, of course is easier said than done... but we learned a lot and we came up with some good stuff I like to believe

Everybody is free to make music the way they feel comfortable

I personally write lyrics for two bands (I've sung in one of'em) and it's always the same...

Either I got a title that creates in me ideas about a development and a structure. Then I start writing the chorus, it needs to be brief and efficient: rythmic, a summary of the whole song, or the idea of the whole song. You definitly have to work hard your chorus!

Or, but much less than the statement above, I want to write a story about things I've seen in dreams or inspired from real life and work the title afterwards.
But I believe the title and the chorus are the most two important things in a song!
